Groma Modell T/N 1938
An exceptionally beautiful example of the famous Groma Modell T, with QWERTY keyboard (original). The serial number is 200612 which means this was one of the very first (the 612th, to be precise) of this well-known model that was made. There are virtually no cosmetic blemishes. All rubber (feet, rollers, platen) are in top condition. The platen is like new with an ideal hardness measurement of ~90. Original logos etc are lovely with minimal wear. This Groma has been thoroughly cleaned, serviced and adjusted. The paint finish, logos and "decals" are all original, as is every other aspect of this fine typewriter.
This typewriter is a lovely typing machine with a fine "touch" and solid feel combined with fine German engineering. There is something so smooth and calm about typing on a Groma typewriter. The gorgeous design of the carriage return lever is seductively curved and charmingly light. Everything about typing on this machine just flows so smoothly. It is an experience of subdued elegance.
Typewriter experts and enthusiasts have said about this Groma model: "The Modell N is an artist’s typewriter, with its sweeping curves and graceful valleys. If objects possess a soul, sitting at this machine and pressing its keys, may change your writing and influence your thinking." and "It’s art that works. It’s art that constructs art." and "[O]ne of the most beautiful machines that's ever been made.". For some excellent commentary on this type of typewriter, please see:

https://typewriterreview.com/2016/03/16/groma-modell-n/An interesting note: This typewriter is labelled as a Modell T, however, the Modell T (at least in later years) had a tabulator system. The Modell N (again, at least in later years) is the same design without the tabs. I suspect this is a result of this being such an early production number. There is no tabulator on this typewriter.
The typeface is Pica (10 cpi) with extra characters for Spanish, German and French. See photo. It comes with two original metal ribbon spools, and a new BACO bi-colour ribbon so you can start typing immediately.
This typewriter is not inexpensive. The price reflects the rarity of the original QWERTY keyboard, the outstanding condition and the relative paucity of examples of this model typewriter that ever become available on the market. This typewriter has it all for a collector and for a user. And, as an investment, I don't expect this typewriter to ever decrease in value.
Like all of our typewriters this is a fully-working typewriter. It comes with the "Acme" lead certification seal attached to the typewriter which permanently identifies it as a genuine Acme-restored typewriter and provides for a one year warranty. We guarantee safe delivery and provide careful and attentive after-purchase advice and assistance from the date of purchase to the end of eternity to ensure your full satisfaction. In terms of an investment, the Acme Seal proves that this machine was restored by the Acme Type Machine Company. This can add value in the event that you wish to sell this typewriter in the future.
The original case is included and it is in good, solid condition. The bottom, however, has cosmetic deterioration that does not affect the utility of the case as a carrier or to protect the typewriter in storage.
