Imagine for a moment, if you will, a typewriter stored since new from the factory. A typewriter never sold but instead stored in the attic of the office machine store which received it from the factory. Imagine that 80 years later it is found and is now available for private purchase.  You can stop imagining, because it is real and true. Such a thing had never before been found, until now.
Here, for your appreciation and consideration, a 1939 Adler Favorit 2 typewriter that is as new as it came from the factory.
This typewriter was received from the factory by the Ernst Rossmann Buromaschine company in Eisenberg, Germany in 1939. Of course, Kristallnacht occurred in November 1938 and, in the months that followed, many Jewish businesses were closed and there was a surge of emigration out of the country by Jewish families. One can only assume that this typewriter (along with a 1939 Mercedes Prima that is also owned now by Acme) was stored carefully away in the wake of the persecution following Kristallnacht.
In 2020, the owner of the building which once housed the Rossman company, was cleaning out the attic and stumbled upon this typewriter and one other. They were wrapped in stiff packing paper and tied with a string. The original paperwork was in the typewriter cases. Acme Type Machine Company acquired these typewriters and is now offering them to historians, collectors and the general public.
This is an extraordinarily rare opportunity to own a piece of history.
This Adler Favorit typewriter has not been serviced, cleaned or otherwise restored. It is offered completely as found. Sale includes the paper wrapping, string, and original papers. It has been tested and is in full working condition.
