This is such a lovely example of Italian design from the middle of the last century. The bright and shiny, unblemished, black finish combined with the bright chrome and the wonderful blue and gold "Mod. 90" logo make this a stunning typewriter.
This typewriter comes with a new bi-colour ribbon and the two original metal spools. It has an "international" keyboard with accents for French, German etc. (accents included: acute (aigu), circonflex, grave, and diaeresis). This typewriter has a Pica (10 cpi) typeface with a QWERTY keyboard layout (English standard).
Overall, this typewriter is in excellent condition. The body finish has only a tiny sign of age and use; this a point of light wear to the left of the spacebar. The chrome and aluminium are in good condition however there are two tiny spots of corrosion on the carriage return lever. The keytops are clean but have a small amount of light corrosion on some and the "N" key has some chrome loss. Both platen roller knobs are absolutely solid and clean without any cracks or other damage. The logos are bright and clean and unblemished.
Mechanically, it is in excellent working condition. All mechanical devices (including, but not exclusive of, ribbon colour selection mechanism, ribbon advance and reverse mechanisms, line space mechanism, typebar action etc.) have been checked and adjusted as necessary, and work as originally manufactured. The platen roller is clean and smooth, in fine, usable condition. The paper feeder rollers are in excellent condition and soft. The feet are in fine condition and grip the desktop well. The characters have all been checked and aligned. Everything on this typewriter is original to its manufacture and original purchase.
The Everest-branded case is in fine condition. The exterior and interior are in very nice condition but with some minor signs of wear. The handle is strong and solid but has a crack in the leather. The hasp is in very nice condition. The key has been lost over time.
Based on the serial number (162826) this machine was manufactured in 1949.
