SORRY, SOLD! 1956 All-Black, Erika Model 10 Typewriter with As-New Platen!

€ 640,00Prijs

This Erika is an extraordinarily fine Model 10 typewriter in superb condition, cosmetically and mechanically, from 1954. It has not been repainted; it is all original. It also comes with two metal ribbons spools and, of course, a new ribbon.

[Note that this typewriter is available with either QWERTY or QWERTZ (German) keyboard. Please let me know which you prefer.]

The styling is sublime, the typing action is steady and fast, solid but soft to the touch. Erika typewriters are well-known and well-respected for the unique lever system they have for typing. This system gives a more relaxed "touch" than standard typewriters.  It has an QWERTY international keyboard with keys for European languages and the typeface is a beautiful Erika Pica (10 cpi). It has a new ribbon on the original metal spools, and is ready to type.

When "comparison shopping" other Erika Model 10's, please check the following:
—is there paint loss, especially on either side of the space-bar?
—is the carriage-return lever at a proper distance from the ribbon cover? Often these are bent downwards and will cause scratching and worse.
—is the case brown faux-leather? If so, ask the dealer if it closes properly. There was a design flaw in those cases and they often don't stay closed properly.
—does the automatic ribbon-reverse mechanism work properly? These are particularly "finicky" on Erikas and without it working properly you will have to raise the ribbon cover and manually change directions of the ribbon. Very annoying!
—does the "Shift Lock" keep the capital letters at the right height? Often these are not properly adjusted. Not a big deal, but can be annoying.
—Check if the keyboard is QWERTZ (German) or AZERTY (French). These keyboards will be difficult to become accustomed to for English writers.

Needless, perhaps, to say, but you won't find any of these issues on this typewriter!
