SORRY, SOLD! 1957 Erika Model 11 Typewriter
Here is a brilliant example of the Erika Model 11 typewriter. The Model 11 is highly regarded by collectors and typists for its beauty, portability and its usability. It is quite a rare typewriter, as only around 50,000 were manufactured. I don't know why they abandoned this model because it is a simply wonderful portable typewriter. What I suspect is that the "portable market" was saturated (by Hermes and Princess among a few others) when it was introduced by Erika and they just never were able to capture a profitable share of the market for this size machine.
The Model 11 is the distillation of the best parts of the famous and more common Erika Models 10 and 12 into a very portable typing machine. It combines all the fine mechanics of these other models and maintains the beautiful soft, solid, fast feel of them. This is a real writer's typewriter with portability. The design is rather "utilitarian" but somehow the beautiful proportions and overall design raises is to a higher aesthetic level.
This typewriter is in perfect working condition and is nearly flawless cosmetically. The rubber on the platen is excellent condition, clean, smooth and soft, with a ~87 hardness measurement (ideal being 85-95). All the other rubber is clean and soft. The chrome is unblemished. It comes with its original case in superb condition inside and out, original Erika-branded brush kit that includes an Erika-branded "erasing shield" and eraser.
For some discussion on this very well-respected model of the Erika typewriter, see:
https://writelephant.com/2015/10/15/erika-11-out-of-10/It has a QWERTY keyboard with foreign accents and the typing action is superb: light and fast but with solid and quick carriage movement (for fast typewriting). This typewriter has an Elite typeface with 12 characters per inch. It comes with a new, Acme-signature blue ribbon on the original metal spools.
Like all of our typewriters this is a fully-working typewriter. It comes with the "Acme" lead certification seal attached to the typewriter which permanently identifies it as a genuine Acme-restored typewriter and provides for a 1-year warranty. We guarantee safe delivery and provide careful and attentive after-purchase advice and assistance from the date of purchase to the end of eternity to ensure your full satisfaction. In terms of an investment, the Acme Seal indicates that this machine was restored by the Acme Type Machine Company. This adds value in the event that you wish to sell this typewriter in the future.
