Everest K2 1957
This is lovely example of an Everest typewriter, Mpdel K2. This typewriter has been completely conserved and restored. It has been fully serviced, cleaned inside and out, adjusted and aligned. It is a lovely typing machine and is in excellent condition mechanically and cosmetically. The canary-yellow colour is quite unusual in an Everest typewriter. The colour and finish are original to the typewriter; it has not be overpainted.
This is a fully-working--as original--typewriter. The only thing that you have to do is sit down, put paper on the roller and start typing. This Everest K2 comes with the "Acme" lead certification seal attached to the typewriter under the keyboard. This seal permanently identifies this typewriter as a genuine Acme-restored typewriter and provides for a 6-month warranty at no charge. (See below for details.) We guarantee safe delivery and provide careful and attentive after-purchase advice and assistance from the date of purchase to the end of eternity to ensure your full satisfaction.
Mechanically, this Everest works perfectly. It has been professionally serviced with all aspects of its mechanical functioning having been checked and adjusted and aligned as needed. It has been appropriately lubricated. The platen is in wonderful condition, is clean, smooth and the hardness is measured at an excellent 92 (Ideal is considered between 85 and 95). The paper feeder rollers are in soft and fine condition. The rubber feet are a little harder than ideal but still grip the desktop well.
Cosmetically this typewriter is in extra fine condition. The only small blemishes are on the rear lower panel for the rest it is clean and unblemished. The colour is uniform except for some light fading on the left side of the keyboard panel. On the lower front panel below the keyboard there has been some retouching of the paint in the past.
This is a wonderful typewriter to use--and to look at! There is something gentle--yet sturdy--about the typing action. It has a very smooth carriage return lever movement, and the carriage just glides to the other side. The typing is soft and yet precise. The "look" is decidedly mid-century modern. It has lovely brown keys and platen knobs, something that is rather uncommon on K2's.
This Everest K2 has a tabulator system for writing in columns. and also has a touch-regulator system. Based on the serial number (567192) this machine is from 1957. The typeface is Pica (10 cpi). It has a QWERTY keyboard (standard US/UK) with an "@" key. This typewriter comes with a new bi-colour ribbon so that you can start typing immediately.
The hard case is in nice and solid condition. The exterior shows some signs of age and use and the rubber feet are not in very good codition..
