Triumph Norm Typewriter 1957
This is a gorgeous example of the Norm model, Triumph typewriter. It is in exceptionally fine cosmetic condition and working perfectly. This red-and-cream colour combination is entirely original to the manufacture of this typewriter! The typeface is a very handsome Elite and the keyboard is original QWERTY. This typewriter has been fully serviced, completely cleaned, aligned, adjusted and lubricated for years of good service. It has been outfitted with a new bi-colour ribbon so you can start typing immediately. This typewriter comes with the original Triumph-branded case, user manual, brush and polishing cloth.
Triumphs are not only finely engineered motorcycles! A branch of the company also made superior quality typewriters in Germany. The external design is a lovely expression of mid-century design. The internal mechanics are as good as they come! Those who know Triumphs know what I am talking about. And what a feel! The typing is tight and can be fast and there is no carriage in the entire typewriter kingdom that moves as smoothly or lightly.
Acme typewriters have been the choice of discerning collectors and writers more than 1,000 times since we began selling online in 2016. We safely ship your typewriter from our store in the Netherlands and delivery time to the US averages only 3 days—this is a quicker delivery time even than most domestic shipments within the US! Acme typewriters are guaranteed to arrive safely at your door, are covered by a 1-year warranty, and come with lifetime customer-care.
With an ACME Typewriter, you know you are getting a fully-working--as original--typewriter. The only thing that you have to do is sit down, put paper on the roller and start typing. Your typewriter comes with the "Acme" lead certification seal which permanently identifies it as a genuine Acme-restored typewriter and provides for a one-year warranty at no charge. In terms of an investment, the Acme Seal proves that this machine was restored in 2023 by the Acme Type Machine Company. This can add value in the event that you wish to sell this typewriter in the future.
The platen roller is in beautiful condition, smooth and clean. The paper feed rollers, which are a composition material of rubber and cork, or simply cork, are in fine condition and grip the paper well. The rubber feet are still in fine condition and soft, holding the typewriter well to the desktop. The chrome is shiny and unblemished. The painted finish is in excellent condition.
The original hard metal case is metal and is in extraordinarily nice condition with the external Triumph badge and dealer's decal intact. The chrome and the handle are in excellent condition.

Short History of the Triumph Typewriters: Two Germans, Siegfried Bettmann and M. Schulte, founded the“ Triumph Cycle Company Ltd” in England around 1890. In 1896 they decided to establish a subsidiary “Triumph-Fahrrad-Werke AG” back in Nürnberg. In Germany, the company began to focus on the manufacture of typewriters instead of bicycles and motorcycles. During World War II production of typewriters ceased as arms production was started. In 1953 Triumph was taken over by Grundig, merged with Adlerwerke and renamed Triumph-Adler and in 1957 the popular Gabriele portable typewriter and an electric typewriter were introduced. In 1979 the company was acquired by Volkswagen and in 1986 by the Italian typewriter company, Olivetti. Typewriter production was closed down in 1997.
