SORRY, SOLD! 1958 Alpina N24 Typewriter
This is an extraordinary and rare, Alpina N24 typewriter from 1958. The Alpina typewriter is considered by many to be a masterpiece of design, both mechanical and aesthetic. The great typewriter aficionado, Robert Messenger, calls the Alpina "perhaps the finest typewriter I have ever used". The quality of the engineering and the manufacturing are almost without equal. The beautiful, original green colour on this example, rare for Alpinas, and the modern styling (for the 1950's) make this a remarkable typewriter to look at and to display.
A note for car-enthusiasts: The Alpina typewriter company stopped making typewriters in the early 1960s and began producing high-performance automobile parts. A few years ago they were acquired by BMW. So the lineage of high-quality technical manufacture that Alpina represented when making typewriters continues to this day.
This Alpina is a fully-working--as original--typewriter. The only thing that you have to do is sit down, put paper on the roller and start typing. It comes with the "Acme" lead certification seal attached to the typewriter. This seal permanently identifies this typewriter as a genuine Acme-restored typewriter and provides for a one-year warranty at no charge. We guarantee safe delivery and provide careful and attentive after-purchase advice and assistance from the date of purchase to the end of eternity to ensure your full satisfaction. In terms of an investment, the Acme Seal proves that this machine was restored in 2023 by the Acme Type Machine Company. This can add value in the event that you wish to sell this typewriter in the future. And the fact that this has a new platen adds even more value.
It is in superb condition in every way and has been professionally serviced, aligned and adjusted. It comes, of course, with a new "Acme Signature" blue ribbon on two vintage metal ribbon spools. The keyboard is English language QWERTY with extra keys for German and other European languages. The typeface is a crisp and handsome Pica (10 c.p.i.).
Cosmetically, this typewriter has amazingly few signs of use or wear. On the upper back panel you can see a small, bluish mark, the origins of which are anyone's guess. Beyond that, it is basically perfect. The platen is clean and smooth and the chrome is in beautiful condition.
A case, in perfect condition is available for this Alpina at a cost of 90€. This can be discussed with the buyer.
