Torpedo Typewriter, 1960 Two-Tone "Blue Bird"

There are reasons why the Torpedo "Blue Bird" Model 18 is one of the most coveted of typewriters. It is marvelous looking on your desk and a dream to type on. This is a fine example of this excellent typewriter. It is a solid work-horse and is in excellent condition cosmetically and in full working condition mechanically. And this is the original paint finish; it has not been overpainted. It has a lovely two-tone blue and grey colour combined with the handsome silver keys. The typing action is wonderfully fast and solid. Collectors and users alike sing the praises of the Model 18 typewriter.
The Model 18 proved to be such a popular model typewriter, in so many ways, that it was produced under various brands, including Torpedo and Remington, and sold throughout the world. It is in, essentially, perfect condition and is working like new. The cosmetic condition is as you see in the photos. Gorgeous!  The chrome is in perfect condition. The case is in nice condition however the zipper is not working and there is a tear to the fabric on the inside. It will serve you very well for transport, and you will not want to keep this beautiful typewriter in the case anyway—it's too beautiful for that.
The typeface is Pica (10 characters to the inch) and it comes with a new ribbon on the metal spools so you can start typing immediately. The keyboard is available in QWERTY, AZERTY or QWERTZ layouts. Please indicate your preference when ordering.
When comparing this typewriter with other similar ones, please note carefully:
—The rubber feet are in fine condition (these are commonly quite deteriorated on Model 18's).
—The carriage return lever has no corrosion of the chrome plating (this, too, is common on Model 18's).
—The 2-tone colouring is all-original. This typewriter has NOT been painted over.
—This typewriter has been professionally cleaned, adjusted, lubricated and aligned.
