Olympia SM2 -- Cursive Typeface 1959

We are pleased to offer this beautiful OLYMPIA SM2 typewriter, with Cursive typeface (also called Script or Italic), manufactured in 1959. It is in lovely condition overall and has been serviced, aligned and adjusted. The platen roller has been professionally refurbished with new rubber. It has a new ribbon on the two vintage metal ribbon spools and comes with a hard case, also in excellent condition.
This is an extraordinary typewriter with a sort of an opalescent finish and forest-green keys (the colour of the keys does not come through well on the photos). For many, the Olympia SM model series is considered to be the "gold standard" for mid-century desktop typewriters. It is one of the most well-engineered, solid, durable and usable typewriter models ever manufactured. This one is one of the best maintained mechanically that I have seen in many years.

The keyboard is English standard QWERTY and the typeface is the extraordinarily beautiful Olympia's Script No. 75 (Elite, 11 pitch). As noted, it comes with two vintage metal ribbons spools and a new Acme Signature blue ribbon.
Regarding the rubber: Platen Roller is new. The Paper Feeder Rollers are like new. The Feet are clean and soft like new.
Regarding the chrome: Perfect. No discernible signs of use or wear.
Regarding the Body condition: Some light fading around the edges, very light signs of use.
Regarding the mechanical condition: Working perfectly, as originally manufactured.
This typewriter comes with the original case which is in excellent condition inside and outside.
