SORRY, SOLD! 1960 Original Two-Tone Erika Model 10 Typewriter
Like a gentleman in evening clothes (a "tuxedo" for you Americans) or a lady wearing her finest pearls... This Erika is a result of Acme's never-ending pursuit of the finest examples of European typewriters. It is a very rare, two-tone, Black & Cream coloured ERIKA Model 10 typewriter in pristine condition from 1963. This typewriter has not been repainted; it is all original. With QWERTY keyboard, this typewriter is ready for its new life with you. It is in top condition, cosmetically and mechanically.
This Erika typewriter comes from a family in the Bavaria region of Germany who owned it since it was new.
The styling is sublime, the typing action is steady and fast, solid but soft to the touch. Erika typewriters are well-known and well-respected for the unique lever system they have for typing. This system gives a more relaxed "touch" than standard typewriters. It has a QWERTY international keyboard with keys for European languages and the typeface is a beautiful Erika Pica (10 cpi). It has a new ribbon and is ready to type.
Acme typewriters have been the choice of discerning collectors and writers more than 1,000 times since we began selling online in 2016. They are fully guaranteed to work. Most shipments to the US arrive in 3 days--often much faster than most domestic shipments within the US. Acme typewriters are carefully selected, beautifully restored and come with a one-year mechanical warranty and lifetime customer-service. Each comes with a lead seal, attached to the body, identifying it as a fully-restored Acme typewriter. Many new dealers strive to imitate us--none succeed.
Overall, this typewriter is in lovely condition, both mechanically and cosmetically. All keys type as new. The platen-roller is smooth and clean and has a good softness measured at ~94 on the hardness scale (Shore A—Ideal is 85 to 95). The body finish is in excellent condition with very minor signs of age or use. The Chrome is in perfect condition. The rubber feet and paper feeder rollers are in excellent and soft condition.
