SORRY, RESERVED! 1960 Remington (Torpedo) Senior-Riter -- As new condition!

It is the dream of restorers to receive such a typewriter! This is an exceptionally pristine example of one of the most sought-after mid-century typewriters: the Torpedo Model 18B. In nearly new condition, this typewriter was used to type perhaps only a handful of letters before being put away for more than half-a-century. The photos speak for themselves as regards the condition of this amazing typewriter. It comes with the original case, also in near-perfect condition, and all the original accoutrements: brush, cleaning cloth, user manual--and also an eraser and Tipp-Ex!
The Model 18B is well-known as one of the finest desktop typewriters available and I believe that it will be hard to ever find another Model 18B in such superb condition as this one. Of the Model 18, Typewriterreview.com says: "is sleek and fast. The keys move effortlessly and with fluid precision. If your goal is to conquer a large manuscript, this is your weapon." The touch and feel of a Model 18 is the joy of the typing fingertips. And with the basket-shift mechanism, shifting to capital letters couldn't be softer or easier feeling.
The silver-gray finish with blue-gray keys gives this typing machine an exceedingly elegant look. This typewriter has been given a museum-grade conservation. This means that every aspect has been checked out, cleaned of dust and lubricated as needed. Not one single screw or bolt has been loosened or replaced. It is exactly the way the it came from the factory, with the exception of two screws needing to be removed to replace the platen--a normal operation.
This typewriter has been outfitted with a renovated platen, professionally covered with new rubber by one of the oldest factories in the Netherlands.

While most Torpedo’s were branded Torpedo some, branded as Blue Bird or Bluebird were destined for Great Britain and some, branded as Remington, were sold through Remington sales channels. The Senior-Riter is a relatively uncommon version of the Torpedo Model 18. Many Senior-Riters, finished in military-green colour were used by the Royal Netherlands Military Forces and show up from time to time for sale. The Senior-Riter in market-oriented colours (so far they are only known in silvee-gray like this one and a blue-gray colour) seems to have only been marketed in the Netherlands. Although this assumption is open to more research. The Torpedo factory, in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, was a  subsidiary of Remington for some years.

The hard case is in like-new condition except for the two points of wear shown in the photos. The interior is perfect condition. 
The typeface is a beautiful Pica (10 cpi). The keyboard is an international layout with QWERTY (English standard) and having keys for accent marks for foreign languages. This typewriter comes with its two original metal ribbon spools and a new bi-colour ribbon so that you can start typing immediately. The typing action is wonderfully fast and solid.
