Everest K3 1961

This is a very rare EVEREST K3 typewriter from 1961 in superb condition. It is in perfect working order and without any blemishes on the body. A beautiful example of Italian industrial design from the mid twentieth century. And a wonderful typewriter to type with. This is a wonderful typewriter to use--and to look at! You will be hard-pressed to find an Everest K3 anywhere and this one is in absolutely top condition. There is something gentle--yet sturdy--about the typing action. It has a very smooth carriage return lever movement, and the carriage just glides to the other side. The typing is soft and yet precise.
This particular Everest K3 comes from a former "It-Boy" (the latest face...) in Swinging London of the early 1960s. He bought it new just at the moment that London became, as Diana Vreeland, editor of Vogue magazine, said "...the most swinging city in the world at the moment." Imagine the Pop-Art scene, the colourful clothing, the crazy smoky-haze parties. Listening to new music like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Animals, Lulu... Running into Twiggy or into David Bailey taking photographs. This fantastic blue typewriter fit right into the whole scene. 
The "look" is definitely mid-century modern. It has lovely cream coloured keys and platen knobs, and that gorgeous eggshell-blue body. The lovely leather case adds a balancing dimension to the overall package through its colour and texture. 
Based on the serial number (1057555) this machine is from 1961. The typeface is a mid-sized Elite (11 cpi). It has a QWERTY keyboard (standard US/UK) and include the all-important "@" sign.
This typewriter is in superb cosmetic condition and working beautifully.  It has been fully cleaned, adjusted and serviced and comes with a new BACO ribbon (the choice of discerning collectors) so you can start typing immediately.
The platen and all the rubber parts--including paper feeder rollers and feet--are in excellent condition, ready for some serious use. The platen has a very good and usable softness with a durometer reading (Shore A) of 93. The chrome pieces are unblemished by age, use or corrosion.
It comes with the original leather case which, as you can see from the photos, is in wonderful condition. The handles have been professionally replaced with matching leather and the zipper has been restitched for strength, usability and beauty. The zippers are working perfectly and the clear plastic pocket is clean and untorn.
