Princess 300 Typewriter 1962 Blue
This Princess 300, from 1962, is in excellent overall condition. This typewriter has been fully restored, cleaned, lubricated and adjusted. It is wonderful to use and absolutely lovely to look at! A lovely combination of inspired mid-century industrial design and German engineering! This Princess 300 comes with a new platen to make the characters as beautiful and strong as possible, to quiet the noise of typing and for typing comfort.
This lovely PRINCESS 300 is a pleasure in every way. So smooth to type with, so beautiful to look at. The combination of cream-coloured keys and ribbon cover with the blue body gives this typewriter a retro look with a very modern flair.
This Princess 300 will be shipped, fully insured, without additional cost to you and comes with a three-month mechanical guarantee.
This typewriter is in excellent cosmetic condition and working perfectly. It has been serviced, adjusted and fully cleaned inside and out, and has a new BACO ribbon (the choice of many collectors and typewriting enthusiasts) so you can start typing immediately.
Mechanically this typewriter is in top working condition. All the chrome is unblemished and uncorroded. It is fully working as designed and as originally. The rubber on the platen is smooth and clean. It is slightly harder than ideal, with a durometer reading of ~95. This Princess can be outfitted with a new platen at a cost of 95$. This can be arranged after purchase. But, as you can see from the photo of the typing sample, the character imprint is quite good. The rubber on the paper feeder rollers is in fine, soft condition. The rubber feet on the base are still soft and grip the desktop well.
The keytops are in excellent condition without fingernail scratches or other blemish. Everything works as it should and as originally designed. The original paint is in excellent overall condition. The only slight cosmetic "issues" are a couple of very small areas of paint loss on the blue body on the rear panel and a very few spots here and there. These are clearly shown in the photos.
The blue case is in excellent, original condition. The interior blue paper flap is in excellent condition and the snap closure works well. The outer hasp works well but is lacking the original key. There are two small spots of wear on the fabric on the back inner cloth material inside of the case.
The ribbon selector switch on the left is as cool as they come. When you switch to red or no-colour a little colour-block comes into the glass window above the switch. What a wonderful touch!
Tabs are set (and removed) at the touch of a finger with the special key on the right side.
The typeface is a strong PICA (10 cpi). As compared to many Princesses I see for sale, this has the QWERTY keyboard common to English language writers. It has accents needed to write in other European languages, too.
Note that the alignment of uppercase and lowercase letters and small letters is true.
The serial number is 285323, dating the year of manufacture to 1962.
