Hermes Baby 1962

This is an extraordinarily fine and beautiful HERMES BABY Typewriter. Hermes is one of the most renowned brands and models of typewriter ever made, and this is an exceptional example of the "Baby" model, also known as the "Rocket", from 1958. This typewriter is in excellent condition, mechanically and cosmetically, and has been thoroughly cleaned, serviced, adjusted and aligned. It comes with a new platen for pleasurable typing. It is a typing machine that is ready to work for another 60 years of typing service. And with its brilliant Hermes engineering, it does that with elegance, smoothness and solidity.
 
This is a fully-working--as original--typewriter. The only thing that you have to do is sit down, put paper on the roller and start typing. This Hermes Baby comes with the "Acme" lead certification seal attached to the typewriter under the keyboard. This seal permanently identifies this typewriter as a genuine Acme-restored typewriter and provides for a 6-month warranty at no charge. (See below for details.) Overall, this typewriter is in superb, original condition. The chrome parts are in superb condition with no signs of corrosion. The keys are clean and unmarked by use except for the "e" which has light fingernail scratching. Both platen roller knobs are solid and clean, although they show slight wear at the edges. The body finish is in wonderful condition with uniform colour. In some photos you might see what looks like a scratch on the front to the left and below the spacebar. That is an ink smudge from my dirty fingers, and has been removed.
 
Mechanically, it is in perfectly excellent working condition. The platen-roller has been professionally recovered with new rubber. The paper feeder rollers are like new. All mechanisms have been tested and adjusted and work like new. It has been fitted with two vintage metal ribbon spools.  Everything on this typewriter is original to its manufacture and purchase except the new platen, new rubber feet and the new ribbon.
 
The keyboard is a QWERTY keyboard (English language) and includes the $ sign and accent keys for foreign languages among other symbols. This typewriter has the very elegant typeface of Hermes Elite (12 cpi).
 
The case/cover is in fantastic condition both inside and out. The colour is uniform and unfaded. The chrome pieces are clean and shiny and the handle is clean and intact. The interior is in excellent condition. 
 
Based on the serial number (5959247) this machine was manufactured in 1962. This is the perfect portable machine, weighing only ~3.6kg/8 lbs!
 
Notes on the Warranty: Should anything require repair the Acme Type Machine Company (an established company in the Netherlands with Chamber of Commerce registration number 74166247) will repair it free of charge when shipped to our workshop. Due to the costs of shipping and the possibilities therein for damage during the shipping process we will work with you to make any required adjustments or repairs at home prior to taking the step to ship it to our workshop in Holland. Should it be preferable due to costs involved, we will also discuss the possibility of bringing it to a local professional typewriter repair service to make the necessary repairs. 
The warranty does not cover damage due to mishandling or dropping the typewriter, breakage of platen roller knobs or for ordinary typewriter maintenance such as ribbon changing, platen roller renovation, character adjustment due to extensive use etc.
