  • SORRY, SOLD! 1962 Princess 300 Typewriter

    € 740,00Prijs

This lovely, green and cream, Princess 300, from 1962, is in excellent condition and has been professionally serviced, aligned and adjusted. This is an extraordinary typewriter and will have an elegant and joyful presence on your desk or in your office. This is the original colour and finish; it has not been repainted. This typewriter is truly a "statement" on the desk of any serious screenwriter, journalist, novelist or even the occasional letter-writer. It is an extraordinary writing instrument for an extraordinary person. It is a lovely combination of inspired mid-century industrial design and German engineering!

Like all of our typewriters this is a fully-working typewriter. It comes with the "Acme" lead certification seal attached to the typewriter which permanently identifies it as a genuine Acme-restored typewriter and provides for a one year warranty. We guarantee safe delivery and provide careful and attentive after-purchase advice and assistance from the date of purchase to the end of eternity to ensure your full satisfaction. In terms of an investment, the Acme Seal proves that this machine was restored by the Acme Type Machine Company. This can add value in the event that you wish to sell this typewriter in the future.

We have restored dozens of these Princess typewriters over the years and I am always impressed by the overall high quality, mechanical design and the smoothness with which they operate. As an example, the ribbon colour selector switch on the left is as cool as they come. When you switch to red or no-colour a little colour-block comes into the glass window above the switch. Tabs are set (and removed) at the touch of a finger with the special key on the right side.

The gold Princess logo is bright and shiny. All the chrome is in fine condition. The keytops are in fine condition but with some fingernail scratching on a couple of keys. The painted finish only has the tiniest of blemishes and these few are generally located at the back side of the typewriter.

Mechanically this Princess is in top working condition. Everything works as it should and as originally designed. The rubber on the platen roller was renewed prior to it being put away in a closet. The rubber has a perfectly ideal hardness reading of ~85 on the shore A scale (Ideal is between from 85 to 95). The paper feed rollers are in excellent condition and appropriately soft.

The lovely case is in beautiful overall condition. The hasp works perfectly.  The interior lining is overall in very good condition with only light wear. The interior flap with snap is intact. The exterior of this lovely faux calf-leather case is in excellent, original condition with only the slightest signs of wear.

The typeface is a lovely Pica (10 cpi). As compared to many Princesses I see for sale, this has the original QWERTY keyboard common to English language writers. It has accents needed to write in other European languages, too.  It has a new "Acme Signature" blue ribbon.
