Hermes Baby Typewriter 1963

This is an extraordinarily fine and beautiful HERMES Baby, one of the most renowned brands and models of typewriter ever made! And this is an utterly exceptional example from 1963. It is in perfect condition, mechanically and cosmetically, and has been thoroughly cleaned, serviced, adjusted and aligned. This is the ORIGINAL finish--it has not been repainted. This typewriter has been fitted with a new two-colour ribbon on the original metal ribbon spools--one is Hermes branded. This Hermes Baby comes with its original, Hermes-branded cleaning brushes in a Hermes-branded tool-box. It also comes with what I believe is the original price tag which I found in the interior of the typewriter. 
 
This is a typing machine that is ready to work for many good years of typing service. And with its brilliant Hermes engineering, it does that with elegance, smoothness and solidity.

This is one of the finest Hermes Baby typewriters that I have had the honour to work with in my lifetime. It comes from a  wealthy family of theatre owners in London.
 
Overall, this typewriter is in absolutely superb, original condition. There are no areas of corrosion or wear. The only cosmetic defect that I can find are two miniscule on the right lip of the baseplate on the back. The chrome and aluminium are in superb condition with  no signs of corrosion. The keys are clean and unmarked by use. Both platen roller knobs are absolutely solid and clean without any cracks, scratches, discolouration or other damage. The body finish has essentially no signs of age and use. 
 
Mechanically, it is in superb working condition. The platen is in excellent condition: smooth and clean and still soft enough for good typing. The platen rubber measures ~94 on the durometer (82-95 generally being considered ideal). The paper feeder rollers are in perfect condition and soft. The rubber feet have been replaced with new ones; that is the only thing on the entire machine that is not original to its manufacture and purchase. All mechanical devices and mechanisms have been checked and adjusted as necessary, and work as originally manufactured. 
 
The keyboard includes the "at" symbol and the $/£ signs among other symbols. This typewriter has the typeface of Hermes Elite (12 cpi). It has a QWERTY keyboard (English).
 
The case/cover is in excellent condition. The chrome pieces are unblemished and the handle is clean and intact. The base has a few minor dents. The interior is in near-perfect condition. 
 
This typewriter comes with its original Hermes branded tool-box containing two original brushes -- one Hermes-branded, and a polishing cloth. The box itself is in very nice condition.
 
Based on the serial number (5984941) this machine was manufactured in 1963. On the typing sample, I say 1960, but that was due to my original mis-reading of the number. Bad eyesight...)
