1963 Olympia SM7 Typewriter -- "A Writer's Typewriter"

It is in top condition and has been fully cleaned, serviced, aligned and adjusted. It has a new ribbon and comes with a hard case, also in excellent condition. The shifting is easy and light with the "segment shift", also called a "basket shift". This means the segment (the "basket" in which the typebars are found) is lowered to make capital letters, therefore, the shifting is easier and lighter as compared to ordinary typewriters with a carriage shift (which raises the heavy carriage to make capital letters). This is a very speedy and precise typer very suitable to serious writers who want a typewriter that is easy on the fingers.
 
For many writers (and collectors), the Olympia SM model series is considered to be the "gold standard" for mid-century desktop typewriters. It is one of the most well-engineered, solid, durable and usable typewriter models ever manufactured. This one is one of the best maintained mechanically that I have seen in many years.

The keyboard is English standard QWERTY and the typeface is a beautiful Pica with 10 characters to the inch. This typewriter has the tabulator system for typing in columns etc.
 
This typewriter comes with the original case and original Olympia cleaning brush. The case is in superb condition inside and outside with lovely chrome.
