Princess 300 1963

Princess 300 1963

€ 690,00Prijs

This lovely, blue and cream, Princess 300, from 1963, is in superb overall condition. It is a beautiful colour combination and simply gorgeous. This typewriter has its original colouring--it has not been repainted. It has been fully restored, cleaned, lubricated and adjusted. It is wonderful to use and absolutely lovely to look at! A lovely combination of inspired mid-century industrial design and German engineering!

This is a fully-working--as original--typewriter. The only thing that you have to do is sit down, put paper on the roller and start typing. This Princess 300 comes with the "Acme" lead certification seal attached to the typewriter under the keyboard. This seal permanently identifies this typewriter as a genuine Acme-restored typewriter and provides for a 6-month warranty at no charge. (See below for details.) We guarantee safe delivery and provide careful and attentive after-purchase advice and assistance from the date of purchase to the end of eternity to ensure your full satisfaction.

We have restored dozens of these Princess typewriters over the years and I am always impressed by the overall high quality, mechanical design and the smoothness with which they operate. As an example, the ribbon colour selector switch on the left is as cool as they come. When you switch to red or no-colour a little colour-block comes into the glass window above the switch. Tabs are set (and removed) at the touch of a finger with the special key on the right side.

This typewriter is in excellent cosmetic condition and working perfectly. The gold Princess logo is bright and shiny. All the chrome is in fine condition. The keytops are in excellent condition with no noticeable fingernail scratching. The painted finish only has the tiniest of blemishes and these few are generally located at the back side of the typewriter.  As mentioned, it has been fully cleaned inside and out, and has a new ribbon.

Mechanically this Princess is in top working condition. Everything works as it should and as originally designed. The rubber on the platen roller is smooth and clean. The hardness measurement is 95 (ideal hardness is between 85 and 95) so it is still within a good range. A new platen is available (and in stock!) so if you want to upgrade for 95€ we can install a new platen for you. The paper feed rollers are in excellent condition and appropriately soft.

The lovely, blue case is in beautiful condition. The hasp works perfectly.  The interior lining is overall in very good condition with only light wear. The exterior of this lovely faux calf-leather case is in excellent, original condition with only very minor signs of wear and usage.

The typeface is a lovely Pica (10 cpi). As compared to many Princesses I see for sale, this has the original QWERTY keyboard common to English language writers. It has accents needed to write in other European languages, too.

This Princess 300 typewriter will be shipped via DHL to reduce the possibility of damage during shipment. Shipping costs for some countries can be very high but buyers from Canada, especially, and other countries can contact me after purchase to discuss ways of reducing shipping costs. I can refund the difference if we decide on an alternative shipping method.
