Hermes 3000 1966

This is an excellent example of the HERMES 3000, a classic typewriter in every sense! And this is a wonderful, well-maintained machine from 1966. It is in excellent condition, mechanically and cosmetically, has been thoroughly cleaned, serviced, adjusted and aligned and has been outfitted with a new ribbon. The typeface is a beautiful Elite.

This Hermes typewriter comes originally from the home office of a former Fleet Street banker in London, a member of the peerage.
Cosmetically, this Hermes 3000 is in extraordinarily fine condition. The finish colour is uniform and largely unblemished except for a small spot on the left side of the base. There are some other minor marks from usage and wear that can be seen in the photos, but nothing remarkable. The chrome and aluminium is all in excellent condition. 
Mechanically, this typewriter is working as originally. The tabulator system is in perfect working order as is every other mechanical function. All the mechanical aspects have been checked and properly adjusted and aligned. The platen roller, as noted, is new. It has been professionally restored by one of the oldest rubber factories in Holland.  The typing keys are in pristine condition and the chrome pieces are all unblemished and shiny. The paper feed rollers are all soft and grip the paper well. The rubber feet are in excellent condition and serve well to hold the typewriter to the desktop. The platen roller knobs are solid and strong. The right-side knob has two superficial cracks but is structurally sound. (I will guarantee the integrity of this part for one year so that you don't have to worry.)
This Hermes typewriter comes with the original User Manual (in German) and the two original cleaning brushes, one with Hermes branding. A link to the English-language Hermes 3000 User Manual will be provided to the buyer.
The typeface/font is a beautiful Elite (12 cpi). The keyboard is an original English QWERTY and has the coveted "@" symbol. This typewriter comes with a new, vintage Hermes, silk, two-colour ribbon so that you can start typing immediately and with pleasure. The ribbon is held on two, metal ribbon spools.
Based on the serial number (3383384) this machine is from 1966.
This typewriter comes with the original hard case/cover which is in wonderful condition. The external metal parts are uncorroded and shiny, the handle is strong and the hasp is in good working order. There is a single scratch on the cover but for the rest is entirely unblemished, inside and outside.
You have to type on this machine to experience how beautifully these Hermes 3000's respond to a typist's fingers. As soft as butter and as smooth as silk. 
The Hermes 3000 comes with the wonderful red margin indicators built into the paper guard which moves automatically when the margins are set. This is so that you can visually see the exact placement of the margins while you are typing. A wonderful touch!
Overall, this Hermes 3000 is in top condition and working perfectly.
