1968 Olivetti Valentine Typewriter

The Olivetti Valentine is a treasure of industrial design. It was, and remains, so innovative, that it has been included in museum collections around the globe, including the Metropolitan Museum in New York and the Stedelijk Museum in the Netherlands. This example, from 1968, was manufactured in Barcelona. The design was by Ettore Sottsass, an Italian architect and product designer. He was known for his designs of furniture, jewelry, glass, lighting, homeware and office supplies. He also worked on numerous buildings and interiors, that were often defined by bold colours.
Okay, nice design. But how does it type? "Wonderfully!", is the answer. The typing feel is soft and solid, and every mechanical movement feels as smooth as silk. This one has been fully professionally reconditioned, it is ready to type your next novel, your daily journal, a play, a screenplay—whatever!  It comes with a new ribbon so you can start typing immediately. It has an English language keyboard (QWERTY) so you won't be hunting around for letters if you are accustomed to the standard QWERTY keyboard.
This Valentine is in superb cosmetic condition and working perfectly. It has been serviced, adjusted and fully cleaned inside and out. The body colour is completely original, it is not a modern repainting job. Mechanically, the metal parts are in perfect condition and have been properly adjusted and aligned. The rubber on the platen roller is clean, soft and smooth. The hardness of the platen roller is a very usable 90 on the durometer scale (ideal is considered between 85 and 95). The rubber feet are in fine condition and will grip your desktop well.
