SORRY, SOLD, 1986 Olivetti Lettera 82 Typewriter with Provenance

Henk van der Meijden was a celebrated journalist and theatre impresario in Holland through a decades-long career beginning in the 1950s and continuing to the present-day. He wrote a daily column for 39 years for the important Dutch newspaper, De Telegraaf. 39 years! This Olivetti Lettera 82 was one of his many typewriters, the one that he took with him when traveling. It has a new platen and, with that, an absolutely lovely typing "feel".  The Lettera 82 is basically a clone of the Hermes Baby and is such is an excellent and reliable typewriter.
Van der Meijden has an important place in Dutch journalism. In 1959 he began writing the "showbiz" pages for De Telegraaf newspaper, which quickly became the most popular section of the paper. The daily column was called "Privé" and was so popular that, in 1977, he founded a weekly magazine, also called Privé, which was the principle source of entertainment industry news for decades. During all this time he was also producing important theatre and classical music productions.
But don't buy this typewriter because of its provenance only! Mechanically, this Lettera 82 works perfectly and is ready to type for many years to come. The typeface is a compact Elite with 11 characters to the inch. The keyboard is original QWERTY, common to English language writers, and this one has keys for writing in European languages, too.  It has a new ribbon so you can start typing immediately.
