Continental 340 Typewriter with case from 1938
Continental 340 typewriter — from our "Student & Artist Line" of affordable typewriters.
A 1938 Continental 340 in well‑preserved original condition, restored for reliable daily use. This model was Continental’s straightforward pre‑war desktop typewriter, valued for its solidity and clarity of touch. The platen has been replaced with an as‑new roller measuring an ideal hardness of approximately 88, and the decals and logos remain in notably fine condition.
This example has been fully serviced, adjusted, and cleaned. The finish shows various places of wear and minor paint loss, yet the machine retains a cohesive and handsome presence. The glass‑top keys with nickel rings are original and well‑preserved. The keyboard is QWERTY with additional characters for European languages, and the typeface is Pica at 10 characters per inch. As originally designed, the machine uses a single‑colour ribbon and will be supplied with a fresh all‑black ribbon.
The carrying case is structurally sound—despite the large crack—and has a newly fitted handle.
This typewriter is part of Acme’s Student & Artist Line, a selection of carefully restored, accessibly priced machines chosen for writers, students, and creative work.
Each Acme restoration carries a metal certification seal confirming its provenance and includes a five‑year mechanical warranty with lifetime customer service.
This Continental 340 will be packed with exceptional care and fully insured for shipment.
