Continental 340 Typewriter with case from 1938

This fine little Continental 340 typewriter is from the immediate pre-war period and was built in 1938. This was Continental's popular, basic, desktop typewriter model for many years. This one has an "as-new" platen (with an ideal hardness reading of ~88) and the decals and logos are all in really lovely condition. It has been fully restored, comes with a new ribbon and is ready to type for another 80 years. The carrying case has some wear (appropriate, I think) but is absolutely solid with a new handle to carry it wherever you want to go with it.
It has been fully serviced, carefully adjusted and appropriately cleaned and lubricated. Please note that the photos show a red/black ribbon, however, this model typewriter was not manufactured with a ribbon colour-change mechanism, so the ribbon will be replaced with an all-black ribbon prior to shipment.
The keyboard is original QWERTY with extra keys for European languages. The typing keys are beautiful "glass-top" keys with nickel rings. The typeface is Pica with 10 characters to the inch.

The mechanical condition is excellent; the typewriter is working perfectly. The cosmetic condition is very nice although there is some fading of the gloss finish on the front and elsewhere there is some light scratching and other signs of use. Nonetheless, it is a fine looking machine overall.
