Groma Model N, 1956

Here we have a GROMA Modell N typewriter from 1956 in champagne-green, with grey keys. In excellent cosmetic condition and working perfectly. This Groma typewriter is in top condition all-around. Mechanically, it is in perfect working order and operates as originally. Cosmetically it is superb. It comes with the original hard case, two original metal ribbon spools and a modern copy of the User Manual. Groma also produced the wonderful Kolibri typewriter and the mechanical aspects of this model reflect the design and precision of the Kolibri mechanics.

This Groma Model N is a lovely typing machine with a fine "touch", good speed and solid feel combined with fine German engineering. There is something so smooth and calm about typing on a Groma typewriter, especially these later Modell N's. the gorgeous bend of the carriage return lever is seductively curved and charmingly light. Everything about typing on this machine just flows so smoothly. It is an experience of subdued elegance.
Based on the serial number (339409) this machine is from 1956. The typeface is Elite (11 cpi). See photo. It comes with two original metal ribbon spools, and a new BACO ribbon so you can start typing immediately.
Cosmetically, this typewriter is absolutely lovely. The body finish is in perfect condition, unblemished by the ravages of time (unlike many of us born around this time...). The only defect that I can find is a tiny spot on the upper side of the carriage return lever where the chrome has been lost. This spot is less than the size of the head of a pin. On the off-side edge of the same lever there are 3 or 4 similar tiny spots (they are visible in the photos). Other than that the chrome is in superb condition. The platen is in perfect typing condition: clean, smooth and with a durometer reading of 93-94, The paper feeder rollers are still very usably soft, as are the feet. 
This fine GROMA Modell N comes with its original, hard case which is in rather worn condition. Nonetheless, it closes well and latches properly. We must be grateful that it has done its protective job quite well over the last 6 decades.
