Hermes 2000 Typewriter, 1953, with carrying case.

This is certainy one of the finest examples of the Hermes 2000 typewriter, a truly classic typewriter,  that I have found in many, many years. This one has a QWERTY keyboard so you can type as you are accustomed to. It is in perfect working condition and has a "military-green" finish in superb condition. It comes with its original hard carrying case—also in lovely condition—and a new ribbon so that you can begin typing as soon as you receive it!
This is a well-maintained machine from 1953. It is in superb condition, mechanically and cosmetically, has been thoroughly cleaned, serviced, adjusted and aligned and has been outfitted with a new ribbon on the original metal ribbon spools. It comes with the original case. This typewriter comes to us from an aristocratic family in the northern areas of the Netherlands who owned it since it was new. A Hermes typewriter in those difficult post-war years was somewhat of a luxury and they treasured this machine. It was primarily used by the family for correspondence.
You have to type on this machine to experience how beautifully these Hermes 2000's respond to a typist's fingers. The 2000 has long been overshadowed by the well-known Hermes 3000, but I believe unjustly so. It has a less heavy feel and a more traditional look than the early model Hermes 3000's.

Mechanically, this typewriter is working as originally manufactured. The tabulator system is in full working order as is every other mechanical function. All the mechanical aspects have been checked and properly adjusted and aligned. The platen roller, as mentioned , is smooth and clean. The paper feed rollers are all soft, smooth and grip the paper well. The rubber feet are in fine condition. The platen roller knobs are solid and strong and in perfect condition. 
The typeface/font is a beautiful Hermes Elite (11 cpi). The keyboard is QWERTY with extra keys for European languages. 
The case is solid, strong and in overall exceptionally fine condition.
