HERMES 2000 Typewriter, 1957 in Sea-foam green

This is a 1957 HERMES 2000 typewriter in sea-foam green, in very nice condition cosmetically and mechanically. If you are looking for a nice, working example of the Hermes 2000 that also presents well, this might be the one for you. This is a very solid, usable and attractive example and has been fully serviced, cleaned and prepared for use with a new ribbon.

This Hermes 2000 is in very nice overall condition and fully working. Cosmetically, you can see from the photos that this Hermes has a few spots of wear, mostly on the back panel. In addition it has a crack on the left back corner that has been repaired. There are a number of fine cracks on the spacebar. These are superficial cracks and will not affect the way that the typewriter works. There is a metal bar on the underside of the spacebar that supports the plastic of the spacebar. As such, these superficial cracks will not affect your enjoyment and regular use of the typewriter. Overall, this Hermes 2000 presents itself beautifully in its hues of light green and in its overall condition. The chrome is in wonderful condition except for one spot on the paper bail on the right side. The knobs are solid, uncracked and otherwise unblemished, as one often sees in this model of Hermes typewriter. 
 
All keys type smoothly as originally, the platen-roller is in fine condition with a soft durometer reading of 92. The paper feeder rollers are in fine, soft condition and grip the paper well. The rubber feet have been replaced and grip the desktop perfectly. All levers and buttons function as originally. It comes with one vintage metal ribbon spool and a new ribbon so that you can start typing immediately. This Hermes 2000 has the larger PICA (10 characters per inch) typeface and a QWERTY keyboard, the standard for English users. 
 
Unfortunately, over time, the case has been lost.
 
The serial number is 2178069 marking this as being manufactured in 1957 towards the end of the production of this typewriter model which stopped in 1960.
