Hermes Standard 8 Typewriter from 1962

This is the relatively unknown—but inappropriately so—Hermes Standard 8 typewriter! This typewriter was manufactured in 1962, is in beautiful condition all-around and has been thoroughly reconditioned. The typing action is typical Hermes: soft and sure and, sort of, hugging your fingertips while you type. Absolutely super feel!
This is the same model typewriter that was used by Douglas Adams to write "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy". Adams was a "true believer" in the Hermes Standard 8. And anyone that wants to seriously write (type) should seriously consider using one. The combine the solidity of a heavier desktop typewriter with the typing feel of a Hermes 3000.
The typewriter has been fitted with a new ribbon so you can start typing immediately. This is a typing machine that is ready to work for many good years of typing service. And with its brilliant Hermes engineering, it does that with elegance, smoothness and solidity.
The keyboard is AZERTY and the typeface is Hermes Pica. The platen is clean, smooth and of a good hardness measuring ~92 (ideal is 85-95). All mechanical devices have been checked and adjusted as necessary.
