SORRY, SOLD! 1935 Underwood Standard Portable Typewriter
This is a fine little Underwood Standard Portable Typewriter from 1935. It is a sweet little typer, perfect for poetry, short notes, lists, journals, whatever! And think how it will look on your desk or display shelf.
This one is particularly nice because it has the handsome Spool Caps over the ribbon spools and has a genuinely lovely and simple decal saying "James Plant Amsterdam". It comes from a family of musicians in Amsterdam, Netherlands who lived there for many generations.
The Underwood Standard Portable was one of the most popular pre-WW2 typewriters ever sold. Simple design, yet handsome. Compact and reliable.
The external finish is lovely with a few small signs of wear and use. The chrome is in fine condition and the rubber parts are all still sufficiently soft for regular use. One interesting aspect is the wooden core of the platen roller, the edge of which can be seen in one of the photos. The decals and logos are all in fine condition. Sadly, the carrying case disappeared many years ago.
The keyboard is original QWERTY and the typeface is a handsome Pica (10 c.p.i.). This machine has been fitted with a new, ribbon so it is ready to use.
This lovely example of an Underwood Standard Portable typewriter will be packed and shipped with the greatest care to preserve its condition and beauty and to arrive safely to you. It will be fully insured for shipment.
