SORRY, SOLD! 1948 Hermes 2000 Typewriter with NEW PLATEN!

This is an absolutely lovely example of the HERMES 2000, a classic typewriter, in a rich black finish! It has a new platen which makes it more comfortable and quieter to type with. It has a QWERTY keyboard so you can type as you are accustomed to. 
This is a well-maintained machine from 1948. It is in superb condition, mechanically and cosmetically, has been thoroughly cleaned, serviced, adjusted and aligned and has been outfitted with a new ribbon on the original metal ribbon spools. It comes with the original case. This typewriter comes to us from a family in The Hague who owned it since new. The original owner was an attorney who found success in the post-war period. A Hermes typewriter in those difficult days was considered somewhat of a luxury and they treasured this machine. It was primarily used by the family for correspondence.
You have to type on this machine to experience how beautifully these Hermes 2000's respond to a typist's fingers. The 2000 has long been overshadowed by the well-known Hermes 3000, but I believe unjustly so. It has a less heavy feel and a more traditional look than the early model Hermes 3000's. The 2000 is a more difficult typewriter to find especially in the black colour (which is all original).

Mechanically, this typewriter is working as originally manufactured. The tabulator system is in full working order as is every other mechanical function. All the mechanical aspects have been checked and properly adjusted and aligned. The platen roller, as mentioned has new rubber and so will serve you well for decades to come. The paper feed rollers are all soft, smooth and grip the paper well. The rubber feet are in fine condition. The platen roller knobs are solid and strong and in perfect condition. Cosmetically it is in excellent condition with only some slight wear on the frame below and to the right of the space-bar.
The typeface/font is a beautiful Hermes Elite (11 cpi). The keyboard is QWERTY with extra keys for European languages. This typewriter comes with a new ribbon so that you can start typing immediately and with pleasure. 
The case is solid, strong and in overall very fine condition. The covering of the case, as with all cases of this type, is prone to light staining. And this case is no different. But this is only aesthetic and it will work perfectly to transport, store and protect the typewriter.
