This BROSETTE typewriter, one of the rarest of all mid-century, German portable typewriter brands, is in superb condition. Among some typewriter aficionados, the Brosette is considered one of the great "lost" masterpieces of post-war, high-quality typewriter design and engineering. (You can read all about it in the links I have listed below.) The total number of Brosettes that were manufactured is believed to be only around 36,000.
This, as you can see from the photos, is an extraordinary example of ANY typewriter, and in this case that of a rare Brosette. It is in, essentially, perfect condition both cosmetically and mechanically. There are minimal blemishes on the body finish, which is all original. The chrome is perfect. The platen-roller is smooth, clean and receives the type well. The rubber feet are in perfect condition as are the paper feed rollers. This typewriter, like all Acme typewriters, has been thoroughly cleaned, lubricated, aligned and adjusted. It is ready for typing.
Mechanically, this typewriter is also in like-new condition. As with all Acme typewriters, every aspect of the mechanical functioning of this typewriter has been inspected, cleaned and properly lubricated. All necessary adjustments and alignments have been undertaken to restore this typewriter to its original precision and functionality.
This Brosette is a fine, swift typer with a very light feel to it. It has some very interesting innovations, for instance, the wire paper support activates the paper release mechanism for the platen by the user pushing the wire toward the rear of the machine. The Brosette is a nice, smooth, highly portable typewriter. It is what many people call a "super-portable" typewriter weighing-in at around 9 lbs.
The keyboard on this Brosette is QWERTZ and the typeface is a standard Pica (10 c.p.i.)
The case is in a condition commensurate with the machine itself. In superb condition, it has only the most minor marks of use. The external chromed parts are bright, shiny and uncorroded. The interior is flawless excepting some light scratching on the rear panel. The leather handle is in fine condition and strong.
Like all of our typewriters this is a fully-working typewriter. It comes with the "Acme" lead certification seal attached to the typewriter which permanently identifies it as a genuine Acme-restored typewriter and provides for a one year warranty. We guarantee safe delivery and provide careful and attentive after-purchase advice and assistance from the date of purchase to the end of eternity to ensure your full satisfaction. In terms of an investment, the Acme Seal proves that this machine was restored by the Acme Type Machine Company. This can add value in the event that you wish to sell this typewriter in the future.
