SORRY, SOLD! 1955 Groma Kolibri Typewriter

So much has been said and written about this typewriter, one of the thinnest ever designed, and simply a brilliant work of mechanical design. The Kolibri typewriter featured prominently in the Academy Award winning film "The Lives of Others" and is justly sought-after by typewriter enthusiasts around the world. This example, from 1955 (first year of production), is one of only a relatively very few that were manufactured with the QWERTY keyboard. It comes with a deluxe padded travel case in nearly perfect condition.
This particular typewriter was originally intended for a luxurious interior design project for a coastal villa in the Caribbean. When the project's Interior Designer decided to change the colour scheme of the library room, they opted for another of our typewriters instead. Therefore, this typewriter is now available to my general clientele.
The renowned Richard Polt, author of "The Typewriter Revolution" wrote: "The Olympia Sf and the Groma Kolibri are my favorite 'laptops' " (04 Sept 2010).
Daniel Marleau, of the respected Typewriter Review blog, has written: "If Apple made a typewriter, it would be a Kolibri." and, "It infiltrated the West in the attache cases of every foreign embassy attache."

This extraordinary Groma Kolibri is en exceptionally fine condition and the colour finish, as well as the mechanical components are all original to its manufacture.

It comes with the "Acme" lead certification seal attached to the typewriter which permanently identifies it as a genuine Acme-restored typewriter and provides for a one year warranty. As far as mechanical details, this typewriter is fully working in all details. The rubber on the platen is like new with a hardness rating of 90 (with ideal hardness being between 85 and 94). The rubber on the feet is soft and strong and holds well on the desktop (no sliding). There is some very light loss of chrome on the two panels either side of the carriage and on the platen release lever. These areas are minor and the blemish is nearly unnoticeable. The green finish is in superb condition with only the tiniest marks of use and wear.
The lovely case is in superb overall condition. The hasp and handle are strong and solid.  The interior lining is in excellent condition with almost no wear marks. The exterior of this lovely faux calf-leather case is in exceptional condition with only the slightest signs of wear around the latch. 
The typeface is a handsome Elite (11.5 characters per inch). The keyboard layout is original QWERTY, common to English language writers, and it has characters for writing in Spanish and other European languages.  It has a new Acme Signature blue ribbon on two original metal ribbon spools so you can start typing immediately..
