  • SORRY, SOLD! 1955 Princess 300 Typewriter

    €680.00Price

This extraordinary, lovely, gray and cream, Princess 300, from 1958 will have an elegant presence on your desk or in your office. It has been professionally serviced, aligned and adjusted. This is the original colour and finish; it has not been repainted. One of the technically finest typewriters manufactured in the mid-20th century. This typewriter is truly a "statement" on the desk of any serious poet, screenwriter, journalist, novelist or the occasional letter-writer. It is an extraordinary writing instrument for an extraordinary person.

To "share the joy" of the opening of our new store in Holland, we'll upgrade your shipping choice to UPS Air Express for free, with delivery in 2-3 days!

This is a fully-working--as original--typewriter. The only thing that you have to do is sit down, put paper on the roller and start typing. This Princess comes with the "Acme" lead certification seal attached to the typewriter. This seal permanently identifies this typewriter as a genuine Acme-restored typewriter and provides for a one-year warranty at no charge. We guarantee safe delivery and provide careful and attentive after-purchase advice and assistance from the date of purchase to the end of eternity to ensure your full satisfaction. In terms of an investment, the Acme Seal proves that this machine was restored in 2023 by the Acme Type Machine Company. This can add value in the event that you wish to sell this typewriter in the future. And the fact that this has a new platen adds even more value.

We have restored dozens of these Princess typewriters over the years and I am always impressed by the overall high quality, mechanical design and the smoothness with which they operate. As an example, the ribbon colour selector switch on the left is as cool as they come. When you switch to red or no-colour a little colour-block comes into the glass window above the switch. Tabs are set (and removed) at the touch of a finger with the special key on the right side.

The platen roller is clean and smooth and the gold Princess logo is bright and shiny. All the chrome is in fine condition. The keytops are in excellent condition with no fingernail scratching. The painted finish only has the barest signs of age or use. As compared to many Princesses I see for sale, this has the original QWERTY keyboard common to English language writers. And this one has extra keys for Spanish and other European languages. The typeface is a crisp Pica (10 c.p.i.) and there is a new Acme Signature blue ribbon freshly installed.

The deLuxe case--unusual for a Princess--is in very nice overall condition but with some signs of age and use. The hasp works perfectly.  The interior lining is in very good condition with only light wear. The exterior of this lovely faux calf-leather case is in fine original condition with only slight signs of wear.
