Antares P59 Typewriter 1959

Antares typewriters are not very well known due, perhaps, to the relatively limited amount that were manufactured. This is a very nice and compact typing machine. It is very portable but also sits well on the desktop. This particular Antares is the rare P59 model with QWERTY keyboard. It was produced around 1959 in Italy but beyond that I know very little about the history of the Antares label. This typewriter came to us through a Dutch family that had owned it since new. This typewriter is completely original in all parts and has not been repainted. 
Writing about the mechanical characteristics of the Antares typewriters, the great typewriter enthusiast, Will Davis, says that Antares was "the progenitor of a whole myriad of later machines from all over the world" and that they "are efficient and highly portable, and are fairly high on my list of portables to actually both carry around and use". This Antares P59 has been fully cleaned and serviced, inside and out, and is in excellent cosmetic condition and working correctly. Nothing has been replaced or changed from its original manufacture, with the exception of the four, small rubber feet on the base. All keys type smoothly. The chrome is in excellent condition, all levers and functions work as originally.  The platen roller is smooth and clean with a very usable hardness rating of 92 (durometer, Shore A scale; Ideal reading is between 85 and 95). The Paper Feed Rollers are soft and grip the paper well. 
The painted finish on the metal body of the typewriter is in excellent condition, is all original to the typewriter, and has very few signs of use or wear.  The keys are in wonderful condition without scratching or other damage.  There are a few scratches on the lower rear of the typewriter where the case attached to it. The left-side platen roller knob has a small crack with a very solid, vintage, repair. This has been carefully inspected and tested and will not diminish your use or enjoyment of this typewriter. Nor does it diminish the aesthetic beauty of this machine. This part too is, of course, covered by the guarantee.
NOTE: This typewriter comes with the "Acme" lead seal attached to the typewriter under the ribbon cover. This seal permanently identifies this typewriter as a genuine Acme-restored typewriter and provides for lifetime servicing at no charge. (See below for details.)
This Antares P59 has an international QWERTY keyboard  with symbols for accents needed for writing in French, German etc.  The typeface/font is Pica (10 cpi). 
The original case/cover is hard plastic and is in excellent condition. The chrome is in unusually fine condition.  The interior Antares logo sticker is intact and clean. There are surprisingly few marks of use or wear on the case/cover.
Based on the serial number (P-29259-6051) this machine is from around 1959. This model Antares typewriter was superceded by the more common Antares Parva.
This typewriter, like all of our typewriters, has gone through rigorous inspection, alignment and adjustment. It has been thoroughly cleaned and properly lubricated for years of regular use. It comes with a new ribbon and the two original metal ribbon spools.
Notes on the Lifetime Guarantee: Should anything require repair during the life of the typewriter the Acme Type Machine Company (a registered company in the Netherlands  with Chamber of Commerce registration: 74166247) will repair it free of charge when shipped to our workshop. Due to the costs of shipping and the possibilities therein for damage during the shipping process we will work with you to make any required adjustments or repairs at home prior to taking the step to ship it to our workshop in Holland. Should it be preferable due to costs involved, we will also discuss the possibility of bringing it to a local professional typewriter repair service to make the necessary repairs. 
The guarantee does not cover damage due to mishandling or dropping the typewriter, or for ordinary typewriter maintenance such as ribbon changing, platen roller renovation, character adjustment due to extensive use etc.
