    €920.00Price

We are pleased to offer this mint condition OLYMPIA SM4 DeLuxe typewriter manufactured in 1960. It is in superb condition in every way and has been professionally serviced, aligned and adjusted. The platen roller has been refurbished with new rubber by one of the oldest factories in Europe. It has a new Acme Signature Blue ribbon on one original metal ribbon spool and comes with a hard case, also in excellent condition and the original Olympia cleaning brush.

This sage-green example of the Olympia SM4 will be perfect for typing a novel, for letter writing, for script-writing--really, for any typing. It is simply the finest quality typing machine. For many, the Olympia SM4 is considered to be the "King of the Typewriters". It is one of the most well-engineered, solid, durable and usable typewriter models ever manufactured. The SM series of typewriters from the Olympia factories in Germany are considered by many to be the "gold-standard" of what a modern portable typewriter should be. The SM4 is probably the pinnacle of that technical excellence and engineering brilliance among the SM models. It is perfect for a fast typer, or a slower one.

This is a fully-working--as original--typewriter. The only thing that you have to do is sit down, put paper on the roller and start typing. This Olympia typewriter comes with the "Acme" lead certification seal attached to the typewriter. This seal permanently identifies this typewriter as a genuine Acme-restored typewriter and provides for a 6-month warranty at no charge. (See below for details.) We guarantee safe delivery and provide careful and attentive after-purchase advice and assistance from the date of purchase to the end of eternity to ensure your full satisfaction. In terms of an investment, the Acme Seal proves that this machine was restored in 2020 by the Acme Type Machine Company. This can add value in the event that you wish to sell this typewriter in the future.

The keyboard is standard English (QWERTY) with accent keys for European languages. The typeface is Olympia's Pica (10 c.p.i.). The keytops are in wonderful condition showing no wear from fingernail-scratching. With the new ribbon it is ready to type as soon as you receive it.

Regarding the body finish: Uniform colour (despite poor lighting in the photos) and very "fresh" crinkle finish (meaning no smoothed areas smoothed by wear)
Regarding the rubber: Platen Roller is newly refurbished. The Paper Feeder Rollers are smooth and soft. The Feet are clean and soft like new.
Regarding the chrome: Perfect. Few discernible signs of use or wear.
Regarding the Body condition: No blemishes or fading anywhere.
Regarding the mechanical condition: Working perfectly, as originally manufactured.

Comes with the original case which is in excellent condition inside and outside. On the outside of the case there are a few small signs of wear. The interior has minor marks where the typewriter feet have sat for decades and some very slight discolouration. The original Olympia branded cleaning brush is included.

Based on the serial number (1548578) this machine was manufactured in 1960, the third year of production for the SM4.

This superb example of an OLYMPIA SM4 will be packed and shipped with the greatest care to preserve its condition and beauty. We have a lot of experience in shipping typewriters and have an excellent track record for proper packing and safe delivery. It will be fully insured for shipment.

Notes on the 6-month Mechanical Warranty: Should anything require repair on the typewriter the Acme Type Machine Company (an established company in the Netherlands with Chamber of Commerce registration 74166247) will repair it free of charge when shipped to our workshop. Due to the costs of shipping and the possibilities therein for damage during the shipping process we will work with you to make any required adjustments or repairs at home prior to taking the step to ship it to our workshop in Holland. Should it be preferable due to costs involved, we will also discuss the possibility of bringing it to a local professional typewriter repair service to make the necessary repairs.
The warranty does not cover damage due to mishandling, incorrect use or dropping the typewriter, or for ordinary typewriter maintenance such as ribbon changing, platen roller renovation, character adjustment due to extensive use etc.
