Erika Model 10 1961
A fine example of the ERIKA Model 10 typewriter in avocado-green and dandelion-yellow with green keys, from 1961. Comes complete with original case, an original cleaning brush and a two-colour ribbon has been installed on the two original metal ribbon spools. In excellent condition cosmetically and mechanically. The colour scheme and paint finish on this typewriter are all original to its manufacture. This typewriter has not been repainted.
This lovely Erika Model 10 will be shipped, fully insured, at no extra cost and comes with a 3-month mechanical guarantee.
It has been fully serviced, adjusted, cleaned and serviced. All mechanical aspects of this typewriter have been checked and adjusted as necessary for proper typing. All characters have been adjusted to print in correct alignment and the upper-case and lower-case letters are properly aligned to the same height.
The Model 10 is not common and is highly sought-after by collectors and typists alike. This model comes with the tabulator, and the type-bar disentangler key. This is the "Pullman" model which has a small lever on the right which allows the ribbon cover to raise gently for ribbon replacement, cleaning, inspection, for removing the typewriter from the base, etc.
If you want a wonderful example of an Erika typewriter-- or of any German or European typewriter ("typemachine", as they call them)--this is one that you may wish to own now.
One thing I really like about this model of typewriter is that the rubber feet are wearing "spats". The metal cover over them is the same cream colour as the ribbon cover. Lovely touch!
The styling is sublime, the typing action is springy and fast, yet solid to the touch. This particular typewriter is an example of a two-tone in avocado green and dandelion yellow colour. The lovely deep green colour of the keys and platen knobs add a rich counterpoint to the colour scheme.
It has a QWERTY (US/UK) keyboard and the typeface is a beautiful Erika Elite (11 cpi). It has a new BACO two-colour ribbon (the choice of discerning collectors) and is ready to type.
Overall, the typewriter is in excellent condition, both mechanically and cosmetically. All keys type as new, the platen-roller is clean, undamaged and still soft with an excellent durometer reading of 92-93. The Chrome is in fine condition, and all levers and buttons work as original. The rubber feet are in excellent and soft condition.
The only condition issues are some very minor spots of paint loss (back right side of ribbon cover, bottom right of right side platen roller cover, under the left side margin-setting button, and--inexplicably at the colour blocks of the ribbon colour selector) (see photos).
This ERIKA Model 10 comes with the original "leather" case. The case is in excellent condition outside and good condition inside. The only thing missing is the key.
The Erika Model 10 is highly regarded by collectors and typists for its beauty and especially its usability.
