Princess 300 Typewriter 1962 Red

Princess 300 Typewriter 1962 Red

€820.00Price
This gorgeous, red and cream, Princess 300, from 1962, is in superb overall condition. It is a rare colour and simply gorgeous. This typewriter has its original colouring--it has not been repainted. This typewriter has been fully restored, cleaned, lubricated and adjusted. It is wonderful to use and absolutely lovely to look at! A lovely combination of inspired mid-century industrial design and German engineering!

This Princess 300 will be shipped, fully insured, without additional cost to you and comes with a 3-month mechanical guarantee.

This lovely PRINCESS 300 is a pleasure in every way. So smooth to type with, so beautiful to look at. The combination of cream-coloured keys and ribbon cover with the red body gives this typewriter a retro look with a very modern flair. It comes with its original User Manual (in German). The buyer will receive a link to an English language version of the User Manual to download.

This typewriter is in excellent cosmetic condition and working perfectly. It has been serviced, adjusted and fully cleaned inside and out, and has a new BACO ribbon (the choice of many collectors and typewriting enthusiasts) so you can start typing immediately. The original paint is in excellent overall condition. The only slight cosmetic "issues" are a couple of very small scratches on the red body here and there. These are clearly shown in the photos. One original metal ribbon spool is included with this wonderful typewriter.

Mechanically this typewriter is in top working condition. All the chrome is unblemished and uncorroded. The keytops are in fine condition but, unfortunately, do have a little bit of fingernail scratching present on a few of the edges. Everything works as it should and as originally designed. The only small mechanical flaw is the fold-down, chrome paper rest which is slightly bent but still in perfect working condition.

We have had the rubber on the platen roller professionally replaced and it types like a dream. The paper feed rollers are in very good condition and grip the paper well. The rubber feet on the base plate are still soft and grip the desktop well.

The case is in superb, original condition. The hasp works perfectly but is lacking the original key. The interior paper flap is in perfect condition and the bottom covering and the covering behind the flap are a lovely red velvet in superb condition. The interior cloth lining is overall in excellent condition with no fabric tears.

The ribbon selector switch on the left is as cool as they come. When you switch to red or no-colour a little colour-block comes into the glass window above the switch. What a wonderful touch!

Tabs are set (and removed) at the touch of a finger with the special key on the right side.

The typeface is Pica (10 cpi).  As compared to many Princesses I see for sale, this has the QWERTY keyboard common to English language writers. It has accents needed to write in other European languages, too.

Note that the alignment of uppercase and lowercase letters and small letters is true as is the overall character alignment of all the letters.

The serial number is 249143, dating the year of manufacture to 1962.
