Princess 300 1964

€620.00Price

This Princess 300, from 1964, is in excellent overall original condition with an English language keyboard (QWERTY). This typewriter has NOT been repainted, the colour is original to its manufacture. It HAS been fully restored, cleaned, lubricated and adjusted. It is wonderful to use and absolutely lovely to look at! A lovely combination of inspired mid-century industrial design and German engineering!

This Princess 300 will be shipped, fully insured, without additional cost to you and comes with a 3-month mechanical guarantee.

This lovely PRINCESS 300 is a pleasure in every way. So smooth to type with, so beautiful to look at. The combination of cream-coloured keys and ribbon cover with the blue body gives this typewriter a retro look with a very modern flair.

This typewriter is in excellent cosmetic condition and working perfectly. It has been serviced, adjusted and fully cleaned inside and out, and has a new  ribbon so you can start typing immediately.

Mechanically this typewriter is in top working condition. All the chrome is unblemished and uncorroded. The keytops are in excellent condition with only a few very minor fingernail scratches. Everything works as it should and as originally designed. The original paint is in excellent overall condition. The only slight cosmetic "issues" are a couple of small scratches on the blue body under the carriage return lever, on the back side of the ribbons and on the rear bottom plate. These are clearly shown in the photos.

The platen is a little harder than ideal (96 score on Shore A durometer test) but as you can see from the typing test (see photos) the results are still excellent. We can make this platen new again by replacing the rubber, at a cost of 90$. Just arrange this with us after purchase, if you wish. The rubber paper feed rollers are in very good condition and grip the paper well. As do the rubber feet on the base.

The case is in excellent, original condition. The hasp works perfectly but is lacking the original key. The chrome on the hasp is in somewhat corroded condition, unfortunately. The interior is overall in excellent condition with no fabric tears or significant signs of wear.

The ribbon selector switch on the left is as cool as they come. When you switch to red or no-colour a little colour-block comes into the glass window above the switch. What a wonderful touch!

Tabs are set (and removed) at the touch of a finger with the special key on the right side.

The typeface is Pica (10 cpi). As compared to many Princesses I see for sale, this has the QWERTY keyboard common to English language writers.

Note that the alignment of uppercase and lowercase letters and small letters is true as is the overall character alignment.

The serial number is 329646, dating the year of manufacture to 1964.
