SORRY, SOLD! 1964 Facit TP1 Typewriter
  • SORRY, SOLD! 1964 Facit TP1 Typewriter

With a typing feel that is as smooth and soft as they come, this is an uncommon and highly-sought-after typewriter: a 1964 Facit Model TP1, known also as the Facit Privat Series 1, in lovely dove-gray body colour with deep-charcoal keys. It has been fully serviced, cleaned, aligned and adjusted. It has a new two-colour ribbon and comes with a beautiful carrying case in wonderful condition.

The Facit TP1 typewriter has been called the "Prince of the Typewriters" by the great and respected Robert Messenger. He says that it is "attractive to the eye, has a nice light typing touch, yet is still very workmanlike". I cannot improve on his description. This typewriter has a "basket-shift" making it very easy on the fingers while typing.

To "share the joy" of the opening of our new store in Holland, we'll upgrade your shipping choice to UPS Air Express for free, with delivery in 2-3 days!
And please forgive the poor photography as we renovate our new photo studio.

Facit typewriters were made in Sweden by the same company that made the superb Halda typewriters. The Facits have many of the same mechanical and typing qualities as the highly-regarded Haldas.

Like all of our typewriters this is a fully-working typewriter. It comes with the "Acme" lead certification seal attached to the typewriter which permanently identifies it as a genuine Acme-restored typewriter and provides for a one year warranty. We guarantee safe delivery and provide careful and attentive after-purchase advice and assistance from the date of purchase to the end of eternity to ensure your full satisfaction. In terms of an investment, the Acme Seal proves that this machine was restored by the Acme Type Machine Company. This can add value in the event that you wish to sell this typewriter in the future.

For a discussion of Facit typewriters, please see:

The typeface is a lovely Pica (10 c.p.i.) that is unique to Facits and Haldas. .The keyboard is standard English language QWERTY with accents for foreign languages. NOTE: The QWERTY keyboard has the English language standard keyboard configuration, NOT the Scandinavian QWERTY layout. The typing keys have no signs of use or fingernail-scratching. It comes with a new bi-colour, Baco ribbon.

Comes with the original case which, too, is in super condition inside and outside. The interior is a beautiful red colour with a few minor signs of age. Inside the case is a paper flap on the top which is in excellent condition with a working snap closure.

The platen rubber has a fine firmness reading of around 91 (ideal = 85 to 95) and the feeder rollers are in fine condition. All are clean, smooth and gripping well the paper. The chrome is in perfect condition and the body finish has almost no signs of use. The large rubber base is soft and grips the desktop well.

This fine example of a Facit TP1 will be packed and shipped with the greatest care to preserve its condition and beauty. We have a lot of experience in shipping typewriters and have an excellent track record for proper packing and safe delivery.
