Princess 300 1964
Just in time for St. Valentine's Day, we are pleased to offer this lovely, red and cream, Princess 300, from 1964, in superb overall condition. It is an uncommon colour and simply gorgeous. The carmine red base and the cream top and keys are a sublime combination. It is in near-mint condition and has been serviced, aligned and adjusted. The platen roller has been refurbished with new rubber by one of the oldest factories in Europe. It has a new bi-colour ribbon and comes with a rich red case. This is an extraordinary typewriter and will have an elegant and joyful presence on your desk or in your office. This is the original colour and finish; it has not been repainted. This typewriter is truly a "statement" on the desk of any serious screenwriter, journalist, novelist or even the occasional letter-writer. It is an extraordinary writing instrument for an extraordinary person. It is a lovely combination of inspired mid-century industrial design and German engineering.
This is a fully-working--as original--typewriter. The only thing that you have to do is sit down, put paper on the roller and start typing. This Princess comes with the "Acme" lead certification seal attached to the typewriter under the keyboard. This seal permanently identifies this typewriter as a genuine Acme-restored typewriter and provides for a 6-month warranty at no charge. (See below for details.) We guarantee safe delivery and provide careful and attentive after-purchase advice and assistance from the date of purchase to the end of eternity to ensure your full satisfaction. In terms of an investment, the Acme Seal proves that this machine was restored in 2021 by the Acme Type Machine Company. This can add value in the event that you wish to sell this typewriter in the future. And the fact that this has a new platen adds even more value.
This typewriter is in superb cosmetic condition and working perfectly. It has been serviced, adjusted and fully cleaned inside and out, and has a new BACO ribbon (the choice of many collectors and typewriting enthusiasts) so you can start typing immediately. The original paint is in excellent overall condition. The only slight cosmetic "issue" is some scratching on the red body on the back panel where it rubs against the cover when closed. These are clearly shown in the photos.
Mechanically this typewriter is in top working condition. All the chrome is unblemished and uncorroded. The keytops are in superb condition with no scratching. Everything works as it should and as originally designed.
The ribbon selector switch on the left is as cool as they come. When you switch to red or no-colour a little colour-block comes into the glass window above the switch. What a wonderful touch! Tabs are set (and removed) at the touch of a finger with the special key on the right side.
The typeface is Pica (10 cpi). As compared to many Princesses I see for sale, this has the original QWERTY keyboard common to English language writers. It has accents needed to write in other European languages, too.
The serial number is 347373, dating the year of manufacture to 1964.

http://genevatypewriters.blogspot.com/2010/09/scheidegger-princess-matic-1950s-with.htmlNotes on Platens: If you are shopping for a typewriter, please note that the Platen (the black, rubber-covered roller on which the paper is wound and which receives the strike of the metal key to imprint the letter) is one of the most important elements for the enjoyable use of your typewriter and for making a correct imprint on the paper. Over time, the rubber becomes hard. This hardness results in an unpleasant, loud clatter as you type, a harder shock to your finger bones, and a faulty imprint of the letter on the paper. In the glory days of typing, platens would be replaced every few years, just like replacing the tires on your car. The typical cost for a new platen is around 125$, not including labour costs. If you are spending hundreds of dollars on a typewriter, take the time to ask the seller about the platen. Ask the seller what is the hardness measurement of the platen. It should be between 85 and 95. Most dealers simply clean off the platen and don't mention the hardness in their description. At Acme we install new platens, at no extra cost, on any typewriter that needs one in order to ensure the best typing experience and the best, decades-long operation of your typewriter.
Notes on the Warranty: Should anything require repair the Acme Type Machine Company (an established company in the Netherlands with Chamber of Commerce registration number 74166247) will repair it free of charge when shipped to our workshop.
