Olivetti Studio 44 1967

€395.00Price
This is a fine example of Olivetti's wonderful Studio 44 typewriter from 1967. It is fully working and looking lovely. It has been professionally refurbished: cleaned, serviced, adjusted and aligned--and outfitted with a new ribbon. This typewriter has a cool, mid-century styling and comes with a tabulator system.

This Olivetti typewriter comes with a 3-month mechanical guarantee and will be shipped, including full insurance, at no additional cost.

The Olivetti Studio 44 is, in my view, the competition from the Olivetti factory for the Olympia SM3 typewriter market. This is a good, solid desktop typewriter. It has a sturdy feel overall but a relatively gentle typing feel. It is a good choice for the serious typist.

This typewriter is in overall very fine cosmetic condition. The colour is a lovely teal-blue. The chrome and aluminium pieces are in excellent condition. The body finish is in fine condition, although one sees in the photos that there are a couple of spots of abrasion at the very base of the body on the left and right sides where the typewriter has rubbed while in its case. Beyond that, it is in lovely condition.

Mechanically, this Studio 44 works just great. I have gone over everything and brought it back to full and proper working order. The rubber on the platen roller is clean, soft and smooth. The hardness of the platen roller is a very usable 94-95 on the Shore A durometer scale (Ideal durometer reading is argued, but ranges between 85 and 95). Take a look at the typing sample and you can see that the imprint is quite fine. The paper feeder rollers are soft and grip the paper well although they have some wear. The rubber feet are soft and hold the typewriter to the desk. Overall the body finish is nice, clean and shiny with a uniformity of colour and finish.

The hard case is quite an interesting design. The styling is retro in an angular sort of way. The exterior has some signs of age and wear but nothing serious. The interior has a red felt lining that is still in quite fine condition with good colour. All the metal bits are in good condition. The handle is strong and solid but it does have a split in the plastic.

The typeface is the Olivetti Universal Elite (11 cpi) and it has a new two-colour ribbon and one vintage metal ribbon spool.

Based on the serial number (1040626) this machine is from 1967.

(Note to Interior Designers and Film Set Decorators (where colour is critical): I have made every attempt to represent the precise hue of the typewriter but, as you know, that is quite difficult. If you would like other photos or to discuss the matter, please contact me.)

This nice example of an OLIVETTI Studio 44 will be packed and shipped with the greatest care to preserve its condition and beauty. We have a lot of experience in shipping typewriters and have an excellent track record for proper packing and safe delivery. It will be fully insured for shipment.

This typewriter has been conserved to our highest standards. It has been fully serviced, adjusted and aligned, lubricated, cleaned inside and out, and is ready for some serious typing.
