Hermes 3000 1970

This is a beautiful HERMES 3000, and is a wonderful, well-maintained example from 1970. It is in excellent condition, mechanically and cosmetically, has been thoroughly reconditioned  and is ready for many good years of typing service. This Hermes 3000 comes with its original, Hermes cleaning brushes. It has a lovely blue-gray colour combined with the lovely white keys. This is one of the finest Hermes 3000 typewriters that I have had the honour to work with in my lifetime.

You have to type on this machine to believe how beautifully these Hermes 3000's respond to a typist's fingers. Solidly built yet as soft as butter and as smooth as silk. 
Overall, this typewriter is in absolutely superb, original condition. There are no areas of corrosion or wear. The only cosmetic defect that I can find are two tiny areas on the body, either side of the spacebar where there was wear and the paint has been retouched. The chrome and aluminium are in superb condition with  no signs of corrosion. The keys are clean and unmarked by use. Both platen roller knobs are absolutely solid and clean without any cracks, scratches, discolouration or other damage. The body finish has essentially no signs of age and use. (Please note that I see, in the photos, a couple of ink smudges from my dirty fingers. Please overlook that. They have been cleaned off.)
Mechanically, it is in superb working condition. The platen is in excellent condition. (If the buyer wishes, a new platen can be installed at a cost of 85$) The paper feeder rollers are in perfect condition and soft. The feet are soft and still grip the desktop well. All mechanical devices (including, but not exclusive of, the tabulator system, the red Ribbon margin indicator, touch regulator, ribbon colour selection mechanism, ribbon advance and reverse mechanisms, etc.) have been checked and adjusted as necessary, and work as originally manufactured. The tabulator system, and all other mechanical devices, work perfectly. The Paper Supports have their original "bumpers" to prevent scratches to the back cover. Everything on this typewriter is original to its manufacture and purchase.
The case/cover is in excellent condition. The chrome pieces are only very slightly affected by the beginning of some corrosion and the handle is clean and intact.  The interior is in perfect condition with chrome pieces unblemished. The two, original brushes are in excellent condition. 
This HERMES 3000 has a QWERTY keyboard (US/UK).  The typeface/font is Hermes Elite (11 c.p.i.). This typewriter comes with a new bi-colour ribbon.

This model comes with the wonderful red margin indicators built into the paper guard which moves automatically when the margins are set. This is so that you can visually see the exact placement of the margins while you are typing. A wonderful touch!
