Hermes Baby -- in "Un-used" condition 1970

€820.00Price

This is an extraordinary and beautiful 1970 HERMES Baby, one of the most renowned, and highest quality, brands and models of typewriter ever made. And this particular Hermes Baby is in--what I cannot describe otherwise but as-- "Like-New" or "un-used" condition. This is a rare opportunity to buy what is, effectively, a new Hermes typewriter.

The typewriter and case are, simply, in perfect condition, cosmetically and mechanically. The original Hermes platen roller is in superb condition and, despite its age, has a still-perfect hardness measurement of 86 (Ideal: 85 to 95)! How this is possible after 50 years in storage is only explainable by, perhaps, the moisture in the Dutch air and the lack of being exposed to the sun. The paper feed rollers are, likewise, in top condition. The rubber feet on the base are only slightly hardened by time but hold the typewriter to the desktop very firmly.

This is, clearly, a typing machine that is ready to work for 50 more years of typing service. And with its brilliant Hermes engineering, it will do that with elegance, smoothness and solidity. This Hermes typewriter comes from its original owner who, for whatever reason, simply never used it. This was an expensive typewriter when purchased new in 1970 and would have cost around 900$ in todays money

We have, of course, inspected all the mechanical aspects of this typewriter and made the tiniest of required adjustments to ensure that it arrives to you in perfect working condition.

This is a fully-working--as original--typewriter. The only thing that you have to do is sit down, put paper on the roller and start typing. This Hermes Baby comes with the "Acme" lead certification seal attached to the typewriter under the keyboard. This seal permanently identifies this typewriter as a genuine Acme-restored typewriter and provides for a one-year warranty at no charge. (See below for details.) We guarantee safe delivery and provide careful and attentive after-purchase advice and assistance from the date of purchase to the end of eternity to ensure your full satisfaction. We have shipped safely to the outback of Australia, the Sultanate of Brunei, Japan, China, Dayton Ohio, the Isle of Wight, Ecuador and hundreds of places in between.

This typewriter has a QWERTY international keyboard (standard English layout) with accents for European languages. The typeface is a beautiful Hermes Elite, 13 c.p.i. It comes installed with a new bi-colour ribbon.

(Note regarding the colour: It is difficult to describe the colour of this typewriter in words. In some lights it is fire-engine red, in others a red-orange, and in other light it is a deep reddish-orange. I have made every attempt to represent the precise hue of the typewriter but, as you know, that is quite difficult. If you would like other photos or to discuss the matter, please contact me.)

Based on the serial number (9350907) this machine was manufactured in 1970.

Notes on the Warranty: Should anything require repair the Acme Type Machine Company (an established company in the Netherlands with Chamber of Commerce registration number 74166247) will repair it free of charge when shipped to our workshop. Due to the costs of shipping and the possibilities therein for damage during the shipping process we will work with you to make any required adjustments or repairs at home prior to taking the step to ship it to our workshop in Holland. Should it be preferable due to costs involved, we will also discuss the possibility of bringing it to a local professional typewriter repair service to make the necessary repairs.
The warranty does not cover damage due to mishandling or dropping the typewriter, breakage of platen roller knobs or for ordinary typewriter maintenance such as ribbon changing, platen roller renovation, character adjustment due to extensive use etc.
