EVEREST K2 Typewriter

This is an uncommon EVEREST K2 typewriter from 1956 in very fine condition. It is in perfect working order and without any blemishes on the body. A beautiful example of Italian industrial design. This is a wonderful typewriter to use--and to look at! You will be hard-pressed to find an Everest K2 in such excellent condition. There is something gentle--yet sturdy--about the typing action. It has a very smooth carriage return lever movement, and the carriage just glides to the other side. The typing is soft and yet precise.

The "look" is decidedly mid-century modern. It has lovely brown keys and platen knobs, something that is rather uncommon on K2's. Normally these are black.

This Everest K2 has a tabulator system for writing in columns. and also has a touch-regulator system. Based on the serial number (552669) this machine is from 1956. The typeface is Elite (12 cpi). It has a QWERTY keyboard (standard US/UK) with accents for European languages and a key for "<" and ">" symbols.

This typewriter is in superb cosmetic condition and working beautifully. It has been fully cleaned, adjusted and serviced and comes with a new BACO ribbon (the choice of discerning collectors) so you can start typing immediately.

The platen and all the rubber parts--including paper feeder rollers and feet--are in excellent condition, ready for some serious use. The platen has a very good and usable softness with a durometer reading (Shore A) of 92.

It comes with the original case, a wonderful, strong box of blue and light-brown. The case is in excellent condition including the handle. The only flaw of the case is light corrosion of the chrome on one side of the handle. The original key is included along with one original metal ribbon spool.
