Facit TP2 Typewriter from 1968, Imperial Typeface!
With a typing feel that is as smooth and soft as they come, this is an uncommon and highly-sought-after typewriter: a 1968 Facit TP2, in lovely light body colour with deep-charcoal keys. The typeface is a wonderful, and quite uncommon, "Imperial Elite". It has been fully serviced, and is ready to type. It has a new two-colour ribbon and is ready for decades of typing.
The Facit typewriter has been called the "Prince of the Typewriters" by the great and respected Robert Messenger. He says that it is "attractive to the eye, has a nice light typing touch, yet is still very workmanlike". I cannot improve on his description. This typewriter has a "basket-shift" making it very easy on the fingers while typing. There is an innovative system for allowing the carriage to roll back and forth and this mechanism gives the Facit the lightest touch in mid-century typewriters.
This Facit has the normal QWERTY keyboard, NOT the Scandinavian QWERTY which has a hard-to-get-used-to period (full-stop) and comma placement. There are extra keus for European languages. It comes with the original carrying case which is in excellent condition.
Facit typewriters were made in Sweden by the same company that made the superb Halda typewriters. The Facits have many of the same mechanical and typing qualities as the highly-regarded Haldas.
Acme typewriters has long been the choice of discerning collectors and writers. Acme typewriters are carefully selected, beautifully restored and come with a one-year mechanical warranty and lifetime customer-service. Each comes with a "signature seal", attached to the body, identifying it as a fully-restored Acme typewriter. Most shipments to the US arrive in 3 days--often much faster than most domestic. Many new dealers strive to imitate us--none succeed.
(back to the typewriter...)
The body finish is in really superb condition, the chrome is perfect and everything about the typewriter speaks of little use and excellent care when it was used. The Platen Roller is clean and smooth and has a perfect softness for typing, measured at ~88 (Ideal being considered between 84 and 94). The Paper Feeder Rollers are new-like and soft. The rubber feet are soft and grip the desktop well. (This can often be a weak point on Facits and Haldas.)The typeface is a lovely Imperial Elite with 12 characters to the inch (see photo). It comes, of course, with a new ribbon so you can start typing immediately.
