Groma Kolibri (Hummingbird) Typewriter—The Ultimate "Spy" Typewriter!

So much has been said and written about the Kolibri typewriter, one of the thinnest ever designed, and simply a brilliant work of mechanical design. "Kolibri" means "hummingbird" in different languages, and the name certainly fits this extraordinarily thin and compact typewriter. It is a masterpiece of engineering. This typewriter, manufactured in 1955, has a QWERTY layout, so it's easy for standard English writers. It comes with its original case. The typeface is Pica with 10 characters to the inch.
This Kolibri is from our "Artists & Students" collection of super-affordable typewriters.  It is missing the paper bail (the bar across the platen that holds the paper close to the platen when typing). However, because of the design of the carriage this makes little difference in the performance. In addition, the case is very well worn. The two front latches are particularly worn but the two side latches are in fine condition and hold the case well-closed during transport or storage. The painted finish has been touched up in a couple of places.
This typewriter is fully working and has been fully cleaned, adjusted, aligned and lubricated. The rubber on the platen is clean and smooth and takes the impression well. The rubber on the feet is soft and strong and holds well on the desktop. It will be a beautiful addition to your writing desk!
The renowned Richard Polt, author of "The Typewriter Revolution" wrote: "The Olympia Sf and the Groma Kolibri are my favorite 'laptops' " (04 Sept 2010).
Daniel Marleau, of the respected Typewriter Review blog, has written: "If Apple made a typewriter, it would be a Kolibri." and, "It infiltrated the West in the attache cases of every foreign embassy attache."
