This Olympia typewriter is in, really, flawless condition mechanically and cosmetically. It has been professionally serviced, aligned and adjusted comes with a new ribbon and is ready to type! It has been adjusted to have a softer and lighter touch than Olympia's generally have.

I find these all-black SM4's to be one of the handsomest typewriters ever made. It's appearance is both bold and serious. It has a commanding presence on your desk or shelf and beckons you to write on it.

For many, the Olympia SM4 is considered to be the "King of the Typewriters". It is one of the most well-engineered, solid, durable and usable typewriter models ever manufactured. The SM series of typewriters from the Olympia factories in Germany are considered by many to be the "gold-standard" of what a modern portable typewriter should be. The SM4 is probably the pinnacle of that technical excellence and engineering brilliance among the SM models. It is perfect for a fast typer, or a slower one.

Acme typewriters have been the choice of discerning collectors and writers more than 1,000 times since we began selling online in 2016. They are fully guaranteed to work and fully guaranteed to arrive damage-free. Most shipments to the US arrive in 3 days--often much faster than most domestic shipments within the US. Acme typewriters are carefully selected, beautifully restored and come with a one-year mechanical warranty and lifetime customer-service. Each comes with a lead seal, attached to the body, identifying it as a fully-restored Acme typewriter. Many new dealers strive to imitate us--none succeed.

Mechanically it is working perfectly, as originally manufactured. Cosmetically, it has basically, no flaws at all. The chrome is in top condition as is the overall finish. The colouring is completely uniform, unmarred by sun-fading or overuse. The rubber on the feet and feeder rollers is in top condition and still appropriately soft.

The keyboard is original QWERTY, and the typeface is the ever-so-handsome Congress Pica (10 c.p.i.). It comes with a new ribbon so that you can start typing immediately. The platen measures ~93 on the hardness scale (Shore A) with ideal considered between 85 and 95. It is smooth and clean and delivers a fine imprint on the paper. (A new platen is available for an additional cost of 110$.)

We have a beautiful case for this typewriter, if you want it. This can be discussed. It increases the cost of shipping and generally we charge 50$ extra for that.

This wonderful example of an OLYMPIA SM4 will be packed and shipped with the greatest care to preserve its condition and beauty. We have a lot of experience in shipping typewriters and have an excellent track record for proper packing and safe delivery. It will be fully insured for shipment.
