This 1952 Olivetti Studio 44 is fitted with a Hebrew-language keyboard and Pica typeface and survives in pristine condition. It is accompanied by its original hard case, also in superb condition. The Studio 44 model typewriter is a strong, solid typing machine making it highly suitable for serious writing projects as well as for simple letters, poetry or other projects.  

The Hebrew Pica typeface provides a clear, open page at 10 characters per inch, while the Studio 44 itself is known for a firm, comfortable typing action closer in feel to a smooth and swift office machine than to Olivetti’s lighter portables.

Introduced in 1952, the Studio 44 was designed by Marcello Nizzoli with engineer Giuseppe Beccio as Olivetti’s semi-standard machine, positioned between the portable Lettera 22 and the full-size Lexikon 80. It combines the compact mechanical architecture of the Lettera with elements of the Lexikon’s carriage and escapement system, producing a machine with greater substance and adjustment than a typical portable while remaining transportable. The Studio 44 became one of the defining Olivetti designs of the 1950s.

This typewriter has been fully reconditioned by Acme to its original factory operating standard. The mechanism has been carefully cleaned, adjusted and calibrated, preserving the original finish, keyboard and case. It bears the permanent Acme Seal, attached discretely on the mechanism, identifying restoration within our workshop and providing enduring provenance.
