Olympia Plana Typewriter (1950) with Case
OLYMPIA PLANA TYPEWRITER
A rare Olympia Plana from 1950, fully restored and presented in excellent overall condition. The finish is original, showing the characteristic eggshell blue–to–blue-gray tone that reveals more depth under natural light. Compact, well balanced, and exceptionally refined in use, the Plana is known for its smooth, precise typing feel.
This example has been carefully cleaned, serviced, adjusted, and aligned. Mechanically, it performs as designed with one exception: the tabulator system is non-functional. All other functions operate correctly and reliably. If column setting via tabs is essential to your work, this machine is not recommended. Otherwise, it is a pleasure to type on and entirely dependable in daily use.
The platen is clean and smooth. All rubber components—including feed rollers—are in good, supple condition. The bakelite keys are clean, intact, and show minimal wear. The machine retains its original metal ribbon spools and is supplied with a new ribbon, ready for immediate use.
The Plana was acquired from an aristocratic family in northern Germany, where it was clearly well cared for throughout its working life. It is available with QWERTY or QWERTZ keyboard configuration; please specify your preference.
Notably, this model is designed without a left-side platen knob. Nothing is missing.
The typewriter is accompanied by its original hard carrying case, including the case key. The case is structurally sound with honest signs of age. The black metal fittings remain in excellent condition. The leather handle has been repaired where stitching had come loose and is solid and fully usable.
Every Acme typewriter is restored in our workshop and fitted with the permanent Acme certification seal. Each purchase includes a one-year mechanical warranty and lifetime customer care.
This Olympia Plana will be packed and shipped with care, fully insured, to preserve its condition in transit.
