SORRY, SOLD! Rare 1960 Olympia "Diplomat" Typewriter

We are pleased to offer this beautiful OLYMPIA Diplomat typewriter in fabulous red and cream with leatherette case. It is in lovely condition in every way and has been professionally serviced, aligned and adjusted. It has a stunning presence on your desk or in your office.  It comes with the two original metal ribbon spools.  The red colour finish is original to the typewriter. 
An absolutely wonderful "typer", the Diplomat model is quite unusual but is simply a re-branding of the Splendid 33 Olympia model. This is one of the great super-portable typewriters. Weighing only around 10 lbs, it has been positively compared to the Hermes Rocket and Baby and some typewriter enthusiasts prefer it due to the longer carriage-return lever and the more solid "action". Because this is an Olympia, it was manufactured with precision and care and is a superb writing machine. 
Mechanically, this typewriter is in wonderful condition. The platen-roller has hardly been typed upon, is smooth and clean, and has an ideal hardness rating of 89 (85 to 95 is the ideal range).  Every aspect of the mechanical functioning of this typewriter has been inspected, cleaned and properly lubricated. All necessary adjustments and alignments have been undertaken to restore this typewriter to its original precision and functionality. The feeder rollers are in fine condition. All are clean, smooth and gripping well the paper. The chrome is is fine condition and the body finish has minimal signs of use.
The keyboard is QWERTY, with extra characters for European languages.  The typeface is Olympia's Pica (10 c.p.i.).

Comes with the original case which, too, is in fine condition inside and outside. The hasp closes securely and the handles are strong. The only flaw is a "break" at the corner seam on one side. This is nearly impossible to repair as it is a stress point, HOWEVER, it in no way affects the ability of the user to carry the typewriter safely and securely.
