SORRY, SOLD! "Summer of Love" 1968 Olivetti Lettera 31 Typewriter

This Olivetti Lettera 31 from 1968 reminds me of the "Summer of Love". The finish is a groovy red colour. This is the original colour, it has not been overpainted. The Lettera 31 is a great Olivetti from this period. It is the same model, with a different name, as the Olivetti Dora. It has a cool, modern styling although it is almost 60 years old. It comes with the case, also in perfect condition, and the original User Manual and ribbon spools.
The Olivetti Lettera model line is one of a handful of "iconic" portable typewriter designs--and rightly so. It is a triumph of fine engineering and superb design. 
This Olivetti is in superb, as -new condition. It was brought to our gallery by a neighbour who said that she had bought it for a job in 1968. The job never "panned out" and so she put it in a closet where it sat for the last 50+ years. I have seen a lot of typewriters whose owners say it was never used or hardly used—this is the real deal, not a marketing ploy.
The chrome and brushed aluminium parts are in perfect condition. The rubber on the platen roller is clean, soft and smooth. The hardness of the platen roller is a very usable 88 on the durometer scale (ideal is considered between 85 and 95).
